SOLUTIONS TO DAILY CSAT MISSION # 87

1. (C) 2. (D) 3. (B) 4. (D) 5. (C)

Explanations
1. Total rainfall during the week = Rainfall in the first six days + Rainfall on the seventh day.
So, 1 cm x 7 days = 0.8 cm x 6 days + Saturday’s rain, which gives Saturday’s rain = 7 – 4.8 = 2.2 cm.

2. Consider the following image from A to B as a representation of the travels:

Capture

From this, it is clear that he is only 3 Km away from the starting point and is headed due west after the latest left turn.

3. Let the total work be 24. Since Kavya completes it in 8 days, her rate of work = 3/day.
Similarly, if Rekha completes it in 12 days, her rate of work = 2/day.
When they work together, Rekha will do 2 work in the same time that Kavya will do 3 work. So, Rekha is contributing 2 work out of a total of 5 work i.e. she is putting in 40% of the total effort, which means she will get 40% of the reward i.e. 40% of 3000 = 1200.

4. Let the amount of milk to be added be ‘x’ litres.
Initially, amount of milk in the mixture = 20% of 125 = 25 litres.
After adding ‘x’ litres of milk, the mixture becomes (125 + x) litres and the milk becomes (25 + x) litres.
Given, (25 + x) = 33% of (125 + x), which on solving gives x = 25 litres.

5. Numbers are ontained in the series by adding the digits of the previous number to the previous number.
Hence the number after 67 = 67 + 6 + 7 = 80.
