In statement 1 & 4, its reasoning : Since John is this So, he would not be that ! -

Q4 the first option says It refers to a bank that would buy non-performing assets from other banks to free up their books for fresh lending.Acc to my understanding, it need not be a bank rather it can be any asset rehabilitation agency.
So then the answer would be D

what i think is that the statement ” either john is stupid or john is lazy” means that he cannot be both stupid and lazy at the same time so we need to be sure about not being of one condition and that surety of not being of one condition is provided only by statement 2 and 3
whereas in statements 1 and 2 the second part which states of not being of one condition is actually dependent on the 1st part of the sentence..hence we are not being provided surety of not being of one condition. -
