Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented.

Ever since mankind begin to evolve, since then the constant requirement of abundant natural resources has become mandatory for survival and to drive towards the future. The over consumption of natural resources without allowing for resources to renew causes damage on the environment. In this modern era, the life of human existence has become impossible without replenishing natural resources.

The advancement and over jealous nature of human has introduced various components which are harmful for the environment. The increasing number of CFC molecules, depletion ozone by day-to-day use of refrigerators, air conditioners are example of upsetting the environment. Another significant impact is the population growth which is happening rapidly consuming sufficient natural resources like land, water, forest and more products which are produced by industries in catering to their needs by polluting air and water. The natural resources ensure that the environment balance is maintained in the the nature but the evolving human needs are disturbing the balance causing environmental pollution.

The various economic activities of human beings are dependent on industries like steel, coal etc which are contributing to air, water pollution. The increasing number of vehicles, emitting various pollutants into the air is going out of control. The live example is our capital New Delhi.

The result of all this environmental imbalance lead to climate change which is being discussed, planned and tackled at international level. The recent climate change agreement between the developed and developing nations embarks a significant step in planning to address the disease called environment pollution.

The essentials of mankind these days are naturally impacting the environment in one of the other way. Be it the non decomposable plastic extensively used, furnitures, vehicle, industries etc. Every need is being contributing in polluting the environment. Environment pollution has become like a disease which is hard and next to impossible to cure as the human basic needs itself are affecting environment. There needs to be drastic irrational measures which severely affects economy, democratic values and society if one want to completely cure this so called environment pollution.

However, if not cure, it certainly can be prevented. Environmental pollution can be bought under control. Already various steps taken by government are in this direction, like levying heavy carbon tax on industries etc. There are various policies across nation and international bodies are planned and being executed to keep environmental pollution under control. There has been a National Green Tribunal formed by government specifically for this purpose. Recently Delhi govt. introduced odd-even scheme, stoped construction works for few days etc to control air pollution. The policies made by government are also towards preventing environmental pollution like promoting usage of renewable energy like solar power, banning of plastic carry bags etc. These are certainly preventive measure being taken in right direction.

This environment and nature was inherited by us from our ancestors in a good shape, lets ensure to not pollute it and use it effectively to keep in good shape by preventing pollution before handing it over to our next generation.

  18. Thanks for the feedback.

  19. Try not to become a man of success ,but rather try to become a man of value.

“Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your behaviors.
Keep your behaviors positive, because your behaviors become your habits.
Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values.
Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny”
    – Mahatma Gandhi.

Originally a lawyer, Gandhiji left his safe and successful career to pursue his dreams. His dream – an independent India and peace for all.many great leaders and royalty have fought for freedom for the select few, using attacks and blood shed as their main means. Gandhiji however, showed that freedom was deserved by all and could be won without any need for violence or fear.without a single weapon or power-hungry thought Gandhiji became one of the most powerful and great leader that the world has ever known.
Success can mean different things to different people. For some it may be a high profile job with a hefty salary.for some others it might be doing humanitarian work and making a difference in the lives of others.for some others it might be mmaking it to the position of prime minister or president.
Certain values are considered important in a business context such as honesty, integrity, humility, fairness etc. As long as you stick to your values and scruples, you have nothing to fear.
Amir khan’s character Rancho famously said in the movie ‘3 Idiot’s’- don’t run after success, aim for excellence / perfection, success will automatically follow.true to meaning,we all need to understand that if we give our best shot with our whole heart and keeping our values in mind, eventually we will succeed in our venture.this success will not happen overnight,it might take a long time in coming, but that will be the kind of success that lasts.shortcuts don’t lead to long-lasting success .
It might look like the person who has no values and who is taking the easy way out, is getting what he or she wants.but sooner or later the mud wall will crumble.
Take the case of Satyam computers scam.Ramlinga raju compromised with his values, cheated the investors and made money through wrong means.he had a wonderful thing going but eventually, the law caught up with him.if he thought he had own his ‘success’ then he was mistaken.later he himself admitted that he had no peace of mind and was constantly worrying about the law catching up with him.
On the other hand take the case of Infosys.the founders had openly stated that they would not resort to corruption of any sort.in order to support their business they had to go through a tough time with India’s notorious red tape during the initial days of their foundation.Mr Narayan murty stood his ground and refused to pay anything under the table to authorities.over the period of years company moved to the top IT firms in the country.
Success is a fruit that tastes sweetest when it has the soil of values and the manure of hard work.if we compromise with our values to get ahead in life,we will not be successful in any of our ventures. As Albert Einstein said “try not to be a man of success, but rather try to be a man of values “

  20. You can avoid mentioning the definitions in the beginning and rather start with examples setting the tone of the essay. Elaborate on the irreversible impacts of pollution followed by preventive approaches. State the undertaken and ongoing international-national initiatives.

It can be structured better. Nice attempt…:)

  23. Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.
    एक सफल आदमी बनने के जगह एक मूल्य का आदमी बनने की कोशिश करें।

    Rough Draft:

    Intro with a short anecdote:

The great scientist Albert Einstein rewrote the laws of Nature. He completely reolutionalised the way we see time, gravity and light. Despte being a man of success and inventions, he openly inspired others to become a man of values. It was him who said that Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value. A man of values gives more than what he recieves.

Similar has been the story of Jonas Sulk. More than earning appreciation and accolades, he wanted to serve the society. Not only he invested the polio vaccine but left it under open source knowledge by not patenting the invention. The universe is filled with such examples whereby, thrust has been on values rather than the benchmark of success.

But, first things first, what does success and value means and imply.
    -Meaning of success and values
-how success and values intrinsic to the existence of humankind
-rather than contradicting itself, both complement each other.
-Success and creativity is pointless without being emphathic to the nature and society in which

    we live.

    Successs without Values

-What harm does the world suffers when success rules the world, without feeling the pain and

    need of society.
-Examples of atom bombs and nuclear warfare. Use of chemical weapons, biological weapons and threat to humanity.
-The importance of vlaues at international relations and conduct of states (uethical use of science
for the purpose of militray hegemony)
    -Cyber crimes and warfare
    -Loss to environment and biosphere.
-misplaced development agenda without keeping humanity at the center stage.
-Socially: The world is full of poverty and illetracy despite advanced science and technology.

Something is lacking, which is the need to become emphathical to the need of the society.

    What wonders values can do:

once incoporated at the forefront of all agendas, be it scientific or development, it can do wonders.
Actions without virtues and values is a curse to manking. Juxtaposing the examples of Gandhi and Hitler, Gandhi with compassion and virtue changed the history of India, while Hitler with no virtues reset the level of inhumane treatment that can be offered.
Examples of Pharmaceutical sector and generic medicnes. Its importance in saving millions of lives around the world and especially africe. (Role of S.3(D) Indian Panetnt Act, 2005)
Use of ICT in communivation, navigation and disaster managemnet shows the ways as to what happens when values incorported in technology.
Success, though has its own charm and charisma, is short lived. But when values are incorporated, it leads the world for years to come and outlives centuries.
    The Way forward:
Need to have value education, start from home.
In era of radicalisation in name of misguided tenets and philosphy, the need is to emphasis on the need of values and goodness.
Teaching, preaching, conditioning and anecdotes are one way of imparting it.

    Conclusion:
The foundation of values as the base of all desires and dreams. Success becomes pointless without values being an intrinsic part of it.
Afterall, true success is reaching new endeavours without comprimising upon values.
Success is not when a billionaire feeds poor, but when he imparts education to them, on basis of which they can feed themselves. Truely the african proverb goes, if you want to run fast, run alone, but if you want to run long, run together.

  24. The mention of contemporary problems surrounding the issue is good. Try including examples of great personalities as well. Nice attempt…

  28. 1.Environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented.

An Extinction Level Event is a likely Event that will cause the extinction of the human race. Various Hollywood movies have depicted the different types of ELEs and how they came about. Extinction by viruses, zombies, nuclear winter, computer malwares, aliens, solar flares, asteroids, climate change have all been depicted on the silver screen, mostly in a gory and ghastly fashion. The cinematic fashion in which some of the topics were handled made the word ELE, a figment of the writers’ imagination and hammered in the general populace a Rambo-like image of the humankind which will survive and stand tall, no matter what will come their way. We have come to believe that no matter what happens, Humanity will survive and grow in face all adversity. We have never been more wrong.

With the advent of the 21st century, a major Extinction Level Event (ELE) that has arisen before the human kind is that of the Environmental pollution. Unlike other ELEs, this one is of our own making and we know of its coming. The seeds of the destruction were sown way back when the first human was born. Back then, the population of humans was less, their technology unsophisticated and their ecological footprint too small. Nature was able to sustain the Chopping down of a few trees, hunting a few animals and burning some easily available fuel. The first step in controlling environmental pollution is dispersion, followed by degrading action and decomposition after which it is status quo. Since the after-effects were small, it was easy for dispersion and decomposition. It was with the population explosion of the industrial age and the advent of the era of coal that we started to do some serious damage to the environment. Cities with booming population like Paris and London which generated a tremendous amount of pollutants and become cesspits of filth and diseases. Forests were leveled to provide for fuel and wetlands were drained to settle cities and provide for agricultural land. Guns made it possible for humans to hunt even the biggest of the animals and man became the apex predator. Then came the era of fossil fuels and we hammered a final nail in our coffins. Cars powered by fossil fuels made transportation easier, allowing for larger cities with more suburbs, which turn required more land and led to concretization of the land. Burning fossil fuels generated even more air pollutants than the chimneys of coal did. Advanced ships allowed humans to reach greater depths in the oceans and disturb their sanctity too. Waste management technology evolved but so did the amount of waste and population skyrocketted. Polythene appeared and has now clogged most of our river bodies and is starting to accumulate in the oceans too. Worst of all, Plastics are non-biodegradable and will now remain in the environment for very long. The amount of pollutants which we emit every day is mind-boggling and more so is the environmental degradation committed by us. Forests are being leveled, soil is being eroded, pollutants are being introduced in the system, water is being contaminated and land is being layered with concrete. Species are being exterminated at an alarming rate and there is a lot of ignorance among the scientists and policy makers on the same. Most think that reducing the rate of pollution can heal the Nature. Others believe that improving standards for emissions will be of some use. No way, the amount of pollutants in the environment is just too much and it will take hundreds, if not thousands of years for the Earth to revert back to its pre-industrial age state. These steps can only slow the damage, not stop it entirely.

Most scientists and policy makers combine Global Warming and Environmental Pollution in one. This is correct to a certain extent. Pollutants like Carbon dioxide, methane and water vapor increase the green house effect leading to global warming. The global warming is disrupting weather patterns, agricultural practices and increasing the rate of glacial meltdown. This can lead to massive food and water shortfalls “in the future”. Global warming and its effects have been debated and discussed several times and several facts and data in its favor are not yet verified. Global warming is major crowd puller for the Hollywood. Movies like Waterworld, Day after Tomorrow and several documentaries have earned a lot of cash and won many accolades.
On the other hand, Environmental Pollution comprises of the entire gamut of ecologically degrading effects of humans. The effects of environmental pollution have already started to show on the human kind. Large increases in the instances of lung cancers, eye problems, hearing losses, premature weakening, high fatigue, severe skeletal problems have been observed in the humans while declining productivity, challenge in behavioral patterns, low fertility and mutation has already appeared in the flora and fauna. The effects are causing real losses to the global economy and are a major challenge for heavily polluted countries like India and China, the powerhouses of global growth. There is no debate on the ill effects of the pollution on us. The results are before our eyes, in our bodies and on the beds of hospitals. Unlike Global Warming, Environmental Pollution is yet to have a major movie title based on it. For a problem of its magnitude, awareness in the general populace is shockingly low. Most school children and even many adults are unable to quantify Environmental Pollution and Global Warming and mostly, think of the two as the same.

In simple terms, Earth can no longer sustain the number of people living this ecologically degrading type of lifestyle anymore. It is not the time of short cuts or quick fixes. The truth is Environmental pollution is an incurable disease and with its effects evident and multiplying by every passing day. It can only be prevented by a grand scale overhaul of us all if we are to survive and not be relegated to the pages of history. Environmental pollution is a ticking time-bomb and we must hope that we have not yet passed the point of no return.

  46. TRY NOT TO BECOME A MAN OF SUCCESS BUT RATHER TRY TO BECOME A MAN OF VALUE

The 21st century is a phase where the two words success and value don’t seem to complement each other very well, a true but harsh reality. It’s a time success is judged by materialistic achievements by the number of car one has, to having a house in an expensive locality, to what designation one holds in his office. Values like love, wisdom, compassion, kindness are seen to be as obstacles in ones way to achieve success. We just need to get rid of them. So, the question that puzzles us all is after all what success is ? Is it not a reality that the more people are becoming successful at individual level the society is becoming unsuccessful , its failing day by day. So the issue is why the society, so many countries, billions of people are unsuccessful, unhappy. Why its not spreading out?
A recent analysis regarding youths all over the world and specially in context of india were found to be affected by depression, anxiety, anger, frustration and so on. Literally these people were very successful at the pinnacles of their career, but why? The answer lies in values, in their journey towards the top many of the youths didn’t realize that materialistic success can never give one inner peace, money can buy you fake company but not true friends. Which can only be made with values like honesty, truthfulness, integrity and so on.
The world is plagued by the problems of hunger, malnutrition, high infant deaths, inspite of s much resources, wealth generated, food and so on. Why ? Its because the more a man of success we are becoming the more we are distancing ourselves from values like compassion, sympathy, kindness, etc . Otherwise what else can explain the fact that a billion people are dying of hunger or the just the basic needs of life. The fact that just 2-3 % of the people in the world has control over approximately 50% of the resources explains this fact.
Another ugly side of this success value fallout is the breakdown of our family unity. With more success and economic independence young people are moving away from parents house and starting nuclear family. The basic value of duty, love, compassion, kindness are lost. Their old parents are simply left alone, lost in the crowd, not having the basic necessity of a secured old age. India is a developing country and at the institution level don’t have enough resources to look after elderly people or totally replace our traditional support system. A recent data shows that by 2050 approx 30% of Indians will be under senior citizens category i.e. above 60 yrs age.
The more success people are achieving, the more busy they are getting, the less time they get to experience the feelings of love, compassion, care. People with money power try to buy this out. Little do they realize such things can never be bought. A very negative consequence is the thriving of girl trafficking business in India and also neighboring countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, etc. These successful people don’t realize that they are destroying hopes, families, futures of innocent people.
So, the point is successful people are needed but not people who are successful without value. Because a person with values can be trained, imparted skill, education and can be made successful in literal terms of materialistic wealth but a person without value and having success can be dangerous for society. He will do more bad for society then good.
Therefore, the unsolved puzzle which still mystifies us is why this is the scenario? And if this is so are we all not responsible for this at the individual level. Rather then pointing fingers should we all not owe responsibility for such moral degradation of our society and fix it? The answer is Yes. But How ?
Its time we should go back to our roots. Our countries have never been devoid of personalities who upholded their values inspite of all the difficulties and yet changed the definition of success altogether. People like Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam are some of them we can look for inspiration, who showed us what success with value looks like. The knowledge of our rich tradition should be integrated with the present.
Its time we understand the real measure of success is judged not by materialistic achievements but the no of happy smiling faces around us . That is real success we all must strive to achive.

  47. PLEASE REVIEW!!

TRY NOT TO BE A MAN OF SUCCESS, BUT RATHER A MAN OF VALUE

This success v. value quote very aptly resounds the times in which Albert Einstein lived. He saw the world face, fight, fail before his eyes during World War 2 with major powers trying to establish their hegemony in global space. The statement holds true in context of Hitler’s regime whose authorized anti-Semitic acts lead to the extermination of more than 6 million jews- an irreparable loss to the civilization. In the then contemporary world India was marching towards independence under the aegis of Mahatma Gandhi based on nonviolence and satyagraha. While Hitler was a man in pursuit of success failed for the want of values, Gandhi’s vision of an independent India was a long struggle achieved crediting to the values it stood for.

Ideally, to a homemaker a successful life is establishing strong family system. To a political leader success would mean reaching out to public aspirations and deliver to the targets. To a businessman success would mean to diversify his business and maximizing his firm’s profits. While these seem as identified objectives which can be tasked, success depends on various determinants- one of which is values. A homemaker works towards building core family values of compassion, care etc among members. A political leader would fulfil public demands staying true to his words. A business man would proceed with ethical practices keeping in vision the sustainability of his business. These instances exemplify how real success cannot thrive without values in day to day life.

Actions without values might lead to a temporary gain but it would surely fail to achieve a positive gratification in the long term. A man lacking the emotional quotient proceeding on his venture will achieve myopic results for his actions which were unguided by values. On the contrary a man with values would choose to live his life in more balanced and non-complicated fashion which itself is a hard end to achieve. Hence, success is transient while values are permanent.

Furthermore, all human actions are motivated for achievement of glory or happiness. This happiness can be synonymized with internal peace and contentment. A value laden life is one lived on a compassionate level standing up to core beliefs. A person in a mechanized mindset of materialistic goals is eluded from the beauty of life for he might fail to understand the gravity behind his actions. Here King Ashoka is a befitting example who won Kalinga war at the cost of human lives for enlarging his empire. Prior to the win his conquests surmised his success. But seeing the wrath of his actions he chose the path of dharma and dedicated his life towards the values of Buddhism. Today, Ashoka is remembered not for his successful military pursuits but for foundational works done by him for the cause of peace and harmony. The change of heart and mind from success towards values is what measures his greatness.

Values have an impact beyond our self and touches upon the lives of others around us. Going back to World War 2 period, Oskar Schindler, a German businessman sold his business to save jews from Nazi atrocities. He lost his entire wealth and riches (success) gained during lifetime to protect the innocent lives of people (values). He is widely cherished as the saviour of humanity during the time when values had crept to the lowest pedestal. While Schindler lost onto his tangible riches, by standing up to the values of humanity he gained a lot more than that could have been comprehended and apprehended to be stored as success.

Conclusively, a man’s pursuit for success is frivolous unless he has a conscious value at its foundation. With values at the anvil of every action it is but natural that success comes along the way. Pure materialistic ventures don’t have an end and without values one is pushed towards the melancholic tone and at times irreparable regrets on the graph of life. In contrast to this values spurs philanthropy and improve the quality of living. Thus, a value based life is in fact- a valued and a successful life.

Then you talked about measures that are taken to curb environmental degradation in the last paragraph which is nice.
    What u have missed is:
    1. you have not explained why it is an incurable disease what all has been tried but failed to restore the environment at pre-industrial level CO2.
    2. You ave missed to mention the process that have irreversibly changed the environment. like loss of albedo,
    3. The aspect of science and technology in curbing the degradation is missing altogether.
    4. You have not mention what are immediate threats and long term disaster expected from such environmental pollution.

many more aspects are missing and this is too small to be called an essay… please keep working on it.

  64. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION IS AN INCURABLE DISEASE,IT CAN ONLY BE PREVENTED
Environmental pollution refers to the introduction of harmful pollutant into the environment,It has a hazardous effect on the natural world and on the activities of living beings.
The major types of environmental pollution are air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, thermal pollution, soil pollution, light pollution.
Deforestation and hazardous gas emissions also Keady to environmental pollution .During the last 10 years ,the world has witnessed several rise in environmental pollution.
We all live on planet earth which is the only planet known to have an environment where air and water are two basic things that sustain life.without air and water resistant the earth would be like the other planet – no man ,no animal,no plants. The biosphere in which living being have the sustenance has oxygen and nitrogen and carbon Di oxide, argon and water vapour.
All these are well balanced to ensure and help a healthy growth of life in tha nirmala world. This balance does not only help the life cycle of animal and plants but it also creates the perennial source of mineral and energies without which the human civilization of today could not be built.
It is for this balance that the human life and other forms of existence have flourished on earth for so many thousands of years.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION IS AN INCURABLE DISEASE:
Environmental pollution has negatively affected the life of both human being and animals.Almost all of our gains in the field of industrial progress ,science and technology has so far been realised at the cost of our health.Even our flora and fauna were found to be threatened with extinction.
All this really leave us wondering if all, our achievements and industrial civilization really help us climb the peaks of prosperity or simply take us down the blind allay of adversity. It is not only in India but all over the world even in Europe and USA THAT the question being raised whether all is well with our industrial growth and progress in the field of science and technology.
Many crusaders against environmental pollution are vehement ally protesting against the incrimate violation committed daily in the name of development

Environmental pollution is not caused by the fall out from nuclear tests or industrial alone. The smoke left behind the automobile and other vehicular traffic, the increasing use of synthetic, detergents, nitrogen, fertilisers and insecticides contaminate both air and water
    a) The water we drink the vegetables are all contaminated today. As a result of this contamination our world is afflicted with a quite number of incurable disease.
b)Environmental pollution affect water sources which mean that there is less fresh water available for drinking washing, cooking and irrigation crops
C)Nothing in their world is immune no life is save and the future of this world is bleak
D)The factories are mostly built in populated areas and the smoke emitting vehicle ply through the congested areas. Besides causing immense disturbances, there are increasing case of pulmonary tuberculosis and thrombosis and various sorts of brain and heart complication
E)Air pollution may cause severe lungs diseases, asthma, brain disorder disease etc
F)Soil pollution may have negatively effect a farm output ratio. It can also contaminate the ground water
G)Noise pollution have negative effect on hearing or auditory sense organ. It can also cause deafness, tiredness and mental losses
    H) The heat generated by industries and vehicles cause thermal pollution by raising the environmental temperature of the nearby areas
    I) Many scientist believe that we are living in an era of mass extinction , due to human made environmental pollution
    J) The worst industrial environment tragedy occurred at Bhopal as a result of toxic and poisonous leakages of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas from a multi national union carbide pesticide manufacturing plant. Over 2000 people including woman and children were killed and hundreds are severely hurt

Therefore “Environmental pollution is an incurable disease it can only be prevented

    ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION :
To protect environment ,the world needs environment friendly growth models. In this regard ,actions are needed on both the fronts.
    a) Government need to promote sustainable practices in all the sectors of the country agricultural, industry, and services.
b)Sustainable lifestyle being followed at individual levels.
Effective action cannot come on the first front till changes takes place in the second front.Today, most of the world Governments are democratic. And decision making of such govt is participatory in nature. First, citizens need to change their consumption pattern, only then the govt will be able to implement the policies which are aimed at the causes of environmental protection.
It was at the first Earth summit (1992)that saw a consensus emerging among the experts in favour of promoting “lifestyle changes ” at the individual level.
Inter national attempts towards environment, ennala protection commenced almost three decades ago. Several international agreement have been signed till now aimed at protecting the environment.Though, the attempts towards it have not given big timely results,we find a general consensus among the nations that human activities have been the biggest cause of environment degradation (Paris agreement,2015)

We are very well notice the abnormal behaviour of the season the cycle developing clogs in its wheels and the world experts fear that the disturbed balance in the biosphere has assumed such serious proportion that very soon our world would be uninhabitable like Hiroshima of 1945.
Some of the advanced countries have already taken so,e measures to meet it.If we fail to restore the ecological balance right now,it would be too late tomorrow

  67. ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION IS AN INCURABLE DISEASE IT CAN ONLY BE PREVENTED.

“Environment pollution is an incurable disease it can only be prevented “. Environment pollution in the form of
Global warming , land ,water and air degradation has risen so much that man’s own life has become endangered. The harm done to nature cannot be undone but it can be prevented from further deteriorating. The increasing level pollution if not prevented will put a question mark on our own survival.

The roots of environment pollution lie in the Industrial revolution in which the people developed industries and the industries destroyed the environment ruthlessly. The industries developed at the cost of environment giving out harmful effluents.

The environmental pollution as a disease has caused irreparable damage to the human civilization.according to state of global 2017 report by two US based institution there were 1.1 million premature death in India due to long term exposure to PM 2.5 in 2015 and around the world 4.2 million. The report show the alarming level of pollution.
To deal with the rising environmental pollution world leaders met to prevent the environment from further deterioration and agreed to PARIS agreement which is a convention on climate change aimed at reducing green house gas emission, mitigation and adaptation.

India has also under its INDC contribution has vowed to adopt sustainable lifestyle, reduce emissions intensity of its GDP by 33 to 35 by 2030 from 2005 level and create an additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of CO2 through additional tree cover by 2030.

In order to prevent pollution India is moving towards euro norms 6 from euro norms 4 bypassing euro norms 5 .The monster of environmental pollution can only be prevented from further spreading its tentacles if the whole world unites to counter this menace . The developing countries need help from the developed countries in the form of finances , technology etc . It is only through the concerted efforts and cooperation of both developing and developed that environment can be prevented from further deteoration.

The disease of environmental pollution can be prevented by adopting sustainable lifestyle, moving towards non renewable sources of energy , adopting vehicles that cause less pollution. As said “Destruction is at man’s will and prevention is also a man’s will’-Its high time that man should stop doing damage to the environment. The disease is already showing its symptoms in the form of Global warming , untimely rains, floods , tsunamis. If the disease is not prevented from getting hold of mankind man would become an endangered. species.

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. – Winston Churchill

More often than not a man’s character is measured with the amount of success he had. This idea is flawed in itself because success is something that is a result of many factors and is often accidental. None of the successful people, and anyone for that matter, are sure of being a success.
Rather it must be opposite – A man’s success must be measured from the values he possess. Because it’s the values that define how we perceive the world around us and how we chose to react or not react to situations that comes before us.

Understanding basic difference between Success and Values:
Success and value is related to each other in the same way as event and causality. Success may seem very tangible quantity but it’s the end and not the path, if we go according to the present definition of success. Success is the goal or achievement that is associated with an individual or a group but the values define the path that is taken to reach there. As there can be many ways to achieve the same goal, values define the quality of a person vis-à-vis others.
For example – Everyone in the freedom struggle movements of India had one goal and see their success in freedom from the tyranny of British Raj. But it’s the value of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash C Bose, Bhagat Singh and others that distinguished them from each other. Gandhij’s values of Truth and Non-violence sets him apart from everyone and gave him the status of Father of Nation.
This example brings up a very important point that world and people take inspiration from values and not Success. Success might be remembered, celebrated or highlighted but it’s the values that are cherished, followed, adopted and passed on. Swami Vivekananda left his body at very young age but it’s the path that he followed which has made him great and his messages are followed. His ideals of service to others, his values of untiring work and commitment towards the goal gives him the status that he has today.

Success is temporary, values are permanent:
Success fades away with time and gets replaced by other success or achievement. And the process continues but the values that are inculcated within the individual stays for life. Success and Failure are two probable mutually exhaustive event and in simple arithmetic terms each has the 0.5 probability of occurring. But values always has the probability of 1 i.e. value is not a game of probability as to what will be the value is independent of external factors. It is 100% dependent on the individual and the way he has been brought up to face this world.
Sachin Tendulkar, Bharat Ratna winning sportsman, is the most celebrated figure of the cricket world, so much so that he is referred to as the God of cricket. But he as that position not because he has 100 hundreds, or maximum runs, he is there because of the values that he as shown on and off the field. He maintained a certain level of ethics and maintained playing for and winning world cup for the country as his biggest achievements over and above his personal milestones. This can even be seen now as most of player retirement take a backseat but Sachin is active in politics and taken up the task of Swchcha Bharat mission and uplifting the level of sports in the country. Values therefore define the type of person you are.

Values shapes success and the fate of success
Success can come to any person but values gives meaning to success. Values of an individual defines how he will handle success. Values gives us shape like a potter shapes his vessel. Success will slip away if we are a leaky vessel and are unable to handle it and get consumed by it.
Values is something that driven Oliver and Wilber Wright to make a flying device; they had no resource, no tech. support, and no capital. But they had values like courage, they were driven by a cause, with an idea that can change the way humans commuted. In fact, the world got to know about their success two days after they took flight.
What is to be understood from this example is that it was very much possible that Wright brothers could have been lost in the history if they never had success but this is not what they were looking for they were happy with the path they were following and their values shaped their success. Success is an event but values are the process that help one arrive at success.

    The idea of success:
Therefore it is required that one should try to become a person who is identified by his value system and not his success. Success these days has become the yardstick by which we measure the worth of a man. The idea of success must be seen in the values of person and how he reacts or treats the people around him. The way a person lives his life and performs his daily chores must be the centrally idea in judging whether he is successful or not. If not others every individual should at least develop values and measure his/her own success against those ideals.

The world has become increasingly unpredictable, materialistic and success has just become synonym to magnitude of wealth, number of cars, size of the house and position in an organization. Until this changes as the definition of success, values will serve as the best way to live life, serve the nation, its people and make world a better place to live.
