    Crisis of Conscience is a situation when a person feels confused about taking the right ethical decisions. This confusion arises due to the inherent sense of responsibilit that humans posses while dealing with a situation. For example, people may face such a situation while voting. Their conscience may suggest them to vote for a party promoting development but at the same time it may also inform them about the danger of communal politics which also represent that party.

    One incidence of crisis of conscience in my life;

    It became difficult for me in my Pharma company to continue working when I realized that there was enormous amount of data manipulation by my colleagues during drug assessment stage.
    I told my manager about this. She said it was a common practice in the industry to avoid drug recalls and it causes no harm to people as the drug constituents are the same, and only ratio varies. She asked me to either continue or search for a new job.
    My conscience was stopping me from fabricating data and follow a deontological approach, yet it was also telling me to retain the job in such a competitive employment industry, thus provoking me to believe that the ”ends justify means”.

    In such a grim situation I decided to continue till I could find a new job and report my findings of malpractice to CDSCO.

  2. Hehe, nothing like that 🙂
