Q. What is the benefit of writing this Open Test?

There are several reasons why you should write this Open Test.

This test is being conducted 15 days before the actual mains. If you write these Tests in a simulated environment, you will get the actual feel of the examination. This is important for your own alignment. You are likely to see an increase in your studying efficiency after the Tests , especially if you are going through a slow phase.
But the biggest practical reason isIf you write four full Tests as per schedule, trust us, you hands will get free and your speed will increase when the actual Exam. If you have written Mains before, you know that your speed is slowest on Day 1 and increases by the time of 3rd or 4rth day. Attempting this test will actually help in these. Please do this if you can. Trust us, this will be the best possible thing you could do for your preparation.

Last but not the least, the Tests will have carefully curated issues and questions relevant for Mains 2016, with a decent chance of similar questions coming in the Exam , assuming that Paper remains Current Affairs oriented like last year. This should help you reap rich dividends. And even if the questions do not match, you anyway have to prepare these questions, since they are relevant, in news and important for the exam.
Q.Will you be evaluating the papers?
No, we will not be evaluating the papers for anyone. The purpose is to just come and write the Test with a decent handwriting in those designated hours – 2 weeks before the actual exam.

Q.I am willing to pay money to get my paper evaluated. Can you evaluate?
Nope. We are trying to solve one problem here – practise of writing the Test in a simulated environment just before the exam. We cannot and will not evaluate the paper. Also, we do not think at this stage you should be making radical changes to your current  answer writing style.

Q. Why is this test not free?
This test will be released FREE for all ForumIAS Members online. But we are charging a sum of Rs. 100 for those who want to come to the Test Center and attempt the Test at our ORN Center in New Delhi. The amount charged will not be able to recover the cost of conducting this exam.

We have not kept the Test Center Event free because free registration encourages people who are not even in Delhi or have no intention of writing the Open Test or the Mains 2016 actual exam end up registering and eating up the limited seats we have. Our experience tells us that having a minimum entry barrier dispels non serious candidates.

Q. I am poor, I cannot pay Rs. 100/ I do not see value in the amount being charged/ I thing the event fee is too high.
You will be getting close to 240 pages of Question-cum-Answer Booklet to attempt the test. This is not even reflected in the event ticket. We will release the QCA booklet online as well FREE of cost for all , so that you can attempt the Tests by taking a print out or in a paper by seeing the questions on the screen.

We assure you that this would be one the best things you would for your Mains preparation in the last days. This has been tried and tested. Writing 2 full days of exam like in UPSC just before the actual exam for practise. Nothing beats it.

Q. Awesome! How can I help?
By registering for this Test and writing a good test and doing your best in the examination. And helping out other candidates on the Forum who need help. After the Mains.

A lot of hard work and effort by multiple people, some of them voluntary, goes into making such arrangements. Please try to avail this opportunity if you are in the vicinity of Delhi.

Q. I am outside Delhi, How can I attempt this paper?
You can attempt the paper by downloading the paper online  and attempting it at home, in a studying environment.

Also if you are in a city, say Hyderabad and have a group of at least 20-30 people, we can arrange for a Test Center in your city, if a large number of people come together to make a request. Let us know by creating a thread in ForumIAS.com and we will try to make some arrangement in your city.

Even if you cannot come to a physical center, we urge you to write the paper sitting at home as per UPSC schedule. Trust us, you will see the difference in the UPSC Mains Examination Hall.

Q. What happens after I register for the event and make the payment?

You will get an email confirmation from Instamojo. Keep it safely with you. We will email you on Thurday or Friday with the link to download your hall ticket. You can bring a printout of your hall ticket or show it on your mobile when you come on the Test Center on the designated date. The address of the Test Center has been given above.
