Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has issued draft guidlines on uniform health insurance product, to be called a standard Mediclaim Policy offering basic cover by all insurers including general and health insurance businesses.

The minimum basic sum insured under the standard product shall be Rs 50,000, with a maximum limit of Rs 10 lakh. The product would have lifelong renewability option for those in the age group of 18 and 65. Dependents and children will be covered up to 25 years.

The proposed product will cover hospitalisation expenses, including intensive care unit, dental treatment,domiciliary hospitalisation among others.Further, expenses incurred on treatment under Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy will also be covered.

During the 5th meeting of Island developement agency, Four islands in the Andamans and three in Lakshadweep have been identified for seaplane operations, while private sector participation has been invited for tourism based projects.

These islands are Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Hutbay and Long in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Kavaratti, Agatti and Minicoy in Lakshadweep have been identified for seaplane operations.

Mid-Day Meal Scheme is a centrally-sponsored Scheme that provides children studying in Classes I-VIII of government and government aided schools with cooked mid day meal. The key objectives of the MDMS is to a) improve the nutritional status of children and b) improve enrolment, attendance and retention rates in schools and EGS/AIE centres ( Alternative and Innovative Education Centers )

Government has cleared the National Policy on Electronics 2019. It envisions positioning India as a global hub for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing.

The government ended modified special incentive scheme (M-SIPS) of national electronic policy, 2012 with schemes that it will find easier to implement such as interest subsidy and credit default guarantee

The Regional Maritime Safety Conference 2019, being organized by India for the first time began in Mumbai.

It is organized by the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), in coordination with Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of External Affairs.
