UPSC Prelims-2018 is over and now everybody has started to speculate the cutoff. Only UPSC knows what will be the cut-off. Rest is just Speculation. Those who are getting more than 90 should immediately start the Mains-2018 preparation. Others should also start preparation for mains. Mains game is different from prelims. For mains there is need to Read less and write more. Join any test series. Form the peer group in which you can practice daily answer writing and get it check from your friends.  Keep one thing in mind if you are not clearing prelims this time you have to write mains next time. So please don’t lose hope if getting less marks in prelims. Start the preparation with the full fledge.

Keep in mind Hold the vision, Trust the process.

Some suggestions for Mains.

  • Try to write at least 6/7 questions a day.
  • Take test papers of any institute and solve first sectional test paper, it will help you in covering the syllabus of mains effectively and in minimum time.
  • Take UPSC last year question papers of mains analyze them.
  • While studying for mains you should always keep syllabus with you
  • Search on each topic that is mention in syllabus and make notes if possible, otherwise consolidate the things you are reading at one place.
  • Try to cover each and every topic mention in the syllabus like SHG, E-governance, Globalization etc collect its data, facts definition, government schemes related to that any other current happenings in that topic and some examples. Like in SHG question one can mention any successful example of SHG in India like that.

TIME MANAGEMENT

  • Divide the time between Optional and GS, Give equal weightage to optional as now days GS is also fetching the good marks
  • Essay takes very less time, what needed In Essay is the practice and evaluation from teaches or Friends. But please don’t neglect the Essay
  • Optional and GS needs proper time management and study.
  • For GS topic which were not covered in prelims like World History, Governance , Internal security Ethics ,Indian Society. So that you can revise them in remaining time.
  • For GS stick to minimum number of sources but revise them again and again.
  • Optional is one such area which can secure your name in the list so dedicated study for optional is must
  • Try to read the test papers of last year’s topper of your optional so that you will get idea how to write in your optional.
  • For optional try to cover maximum syllabus revise it again and again if possible make short notes will help in revising it one month before the Mains.
  • Even for optional regularly solve the question papers and get it check from friends or teachers.
