  1. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways has laid the foundation stone for the Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway. The 1320 km long Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway is expected to be developed by 2022.
  2. The Expressway aims to decongest the congested Delhi-Mumbai national corridor or NH-8 section of the Golden Quadrilateral. Golden Quadrilateral is a network of highways connecting four big metropolitan cities of India viz. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, thereby, forming a quadrilateral. The project was launched in 2001 as part of National Highways Development Project (NHDP). National Highways Development Programme (NHDP) was launched in 1998 with the objective of developing roads of international standards which facilitate smooth flow of traffic. It is implemented by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI),
  3. The Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway is expected to reduce the distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 150 km. It will also reduce the distance between Delhi and important cities like Kota, Bhopal and Indore by about 100 km.
