India has joined the Champions Group of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG).

What is the Champions Group of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG)?

The Champions Group of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG) was set up by the UN Secretary-General in March 2022.

Aim: To address urgent and critical global issues pertaining to interlinked crises in food security, energy, and finance and to coordinate a global response. 

Led by: UN Deputy-Secretary-General leads the Steering Committee of the GCRG involving 32 UN agencies, international and regional financial institutions, and multi-stakeholder partners.

Overseen by: It is overseen by the Champions Group.The group comprises the heads of Government of Bangladesh, Barbados, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia and Senegal.

Working groups: Within the Group, three work streams on Food, Energy and Finance has set up.They will collate data and generate analysis, policy recommendations and solutions to support decision-making and advocacy for consideration of the Steering Committee.

– These workstreams will remain flexible and responsive to opportunities that seek to resolve immediate crises and the vulnerabilities of people and countries.
