About Lapse of the bill
A bill, whether pending in the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha, is subject to lapse or does not lapse under various circumstances as follows:

| A bill pending in the Lok Sabha | Lapses |
| A bill approved by the Lok Sabha but awaiting consideration in the Rajya Sabha | Lapses |
| A bill not passed by both Houses due to disagreement, with a joint sitting notified by the President before the Lok Sabha’s dissolution | Does not Lapses |
| A bill pending in the Lok Sabha lapses on its dissolution | Lapses |
| A bill passed by the Lok Sabha and pending in the Rajya Sabha on the dissolution of the Lok Sabha. | Lapses |
| A bill in respect of which the President has notified the intention to summon the Houses to a joint sitting upon the dissolution of the Lok Sabha. | Does not Lapses |
| A bill pending in the Rajya Sabha but not approved by the Lok Sabha | Does not Lapses |
| A bill approved by both Houses but awaiting the President’s assent | Does not Lapses |
| A bill approved by both Houses but returned by the President for reconsideration | Does not |
