- Elections for the Supreme People’s Assembly has been recently held in North Korea. The Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) is a rubber-stamp body with no power. It is the only legislative body in North Korea. The election for SPA is held every five years.
- The Parliament has three factions. The Workers’ Party, led by Kim Jong-un is the leading part. The two other parties are the Social Democratic party and the Chondoist Chongu party. These three parties are grouped together as the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea.
- Voting for the Supreme People’s Assembly (SPA) is mandatory and there is only one candidate for each seat. Theoretically people have the right to cross out the single candidate but there has been no instances of dissent.
- Democratic People’s Republic of Korea or North Korea is an East Asian country constituting the northern part of the Korean Peninsula. It is an isolated, nuclear armed country ruled by the Kim family dynasty. It is currently ruled by Kim Jong-un, grandson of Kim Il-sung, North Korea’s first leader.
