At the 26th Conference of Parties (CoP26) to the United Nations Framework Concention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Glasgow, 141 countries got together to sign the Declaration on Forests and Land Use (or the Deforestation Declaration). India was among the few countries that did not sign the declaration. According to official sources quoted in the media, India had concerns about the linkage the declaration makes between deforestation, infrastructure development and trade.
