Explanation – Menhirs are large, upright standing stones erected by prehistoric humans, often as part of megalithic complexes. They are among the earliest forms of monumental architecture, dating back to the Neolithic and Bronze Ages, and are found across Europe, Asia, and Africa. These stones hold significant historical, cultural, and astronomical importance. The Mudumal Megalithic Menhirs in Telangana’s Narayanpet district have been included in UNESCO’s Tentative List of World Heritage Sites.
