Statement 1 is incorrect. The BCI was established under the Advocates Act, 1961, enacted by the Parliament of India.

Statements 2 and 3 are correct. One of the functions of the BCI is to set standards for legal education and grant recognition to universities whose law degrees qualify students for enrollment as advocates. The BCI has the authority to prescribe standards of professional conduct and etiquette for advocates and exercises disciplinary jurisdiction over the bar.
