Why in News?
Recently, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, launched the Retired Sportsperson Empowerment Training (RESET) Programme in New Delhi.
About RESET Programme
Aspects | Description |
About | This initiative was introduced on National Sports Day to support retired athletes in their post-sport careers. |
Aim | 1. The RESET Programme aims to provide retired athletes with the knowledge and skills necessary for career development. 2. This initiative is designed to enhance their employability and help them transition smoothly into new roles after their sports careers. |
Objectives | 1. The programme seeks to connect retired athletes with aspiring young athletes. 2. The experience and skills of retired sportspersons will help mentor and guide the next generation, contributing to the growth of sports in India. |
Eligibility Criteria | 1. Retired athletes aged between 20-50 years. 2. Winners of international medals or participants in international events. 3. National medallists, state medallists, or participants in competitions recognized by National Sports Federations, the Indian Olympic Association, or the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. |
Programme Structure | 1. Two Levels Based on Education: i) For participants with educational qualifications of Class 12th and above. ii) For participants with qualifications of Class 11th and below. 2. The RESET Programme will be offered in a hybrid format, combining online self-paced learning with practical, on-ground training and internships. |
Key Features | 1. Participants will have the opportunity to intern with sports organizations, sporting competitions, training camps, and leagues. 2. The programme also offers guidance for entrepreneurial ventures and placement assistance after completing the course. 3. The Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) will be the lead institute responsible for implementing the pilot phase of the RESET Programme. |
