alluvial plain situated between the <strong>Eastern Ghats<\/strong> and the <strong>Bay of Bengal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It extends from the <strong>Ganga Delta<\/strong> in the north to <strong>Kanyakumari<\/strong> in the south.<\/li>\n<li>The plain has been formed by the deposition of alluvial sediments brought by major rivers such as the <strong>Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna, and Cauvery<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Regionally, it is known by different names, namely the <strong>Utkal Coast<\/strong> in Odisha, the <strong>Andhra Coast<\/strong> to its south, and the <strong>Coromandel Coast<\/strong>, which comprises the coastal regions of southern Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.<\/li>\n<li>Important lagoons located along this coast include <strong>Chilika Lake<\/strong> and <strong>Pulicat Lake<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The Eastern Coast is an <strong>emergent coast<\/strong> and is considerably wider than the Western Coastal Plain.<\/li>\n<li>The stretch between the <strong>Mahanadi<\/strong> and <strong>Krishna Rivers<\/strong> is known as the <strong>Northern Circars<\/strong>, while the region between the <strong>Krishna<\/strong> and <strong>Cauvery Rivers<\/strong> is called the <strong>Carnatic Plain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Utkal Plain<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Utkal Plain<\/strong> comprises the coastal Characteristic features of such coastlines include <strong>bars, spits, lagoons, salt marshes, sea cliffs, and sea arches<\/strong>. The <strong>Eastern Coast of India<\/strong> and the southern part of the Western Coast are examples of emerged coastlines. Prominent examples include the <strong>Coromandel Coast<\/strong> of Tamil Nadu and the <strong>Malabar Coast<\/strong> of Kerala.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submerged Coastline:<\/strong> A submerged coastline is formed due to the <strong>subsidence of land<\/strong> or <strong>rise in sea level<\/strong>. Such coasts are characterized by estuaries, creeks, and drowned river valleys.
