IIT Kanpur graduate Chirag Jain, who secured AIR 355 in CSE 2018 and AIR 10 in IFoS 2018, started preparing for these exams in his 3rd year of graduation. This was his 3rd attempt in CSE and 2nd attempt in IFoS.
What drove him to Civil Services is the combination of public service and considerable social recognition in the job.
He was enrolled in ForumIAS’s AWFG (Answer-writing Focus Group) and MGP (Mains Guidance Program) and wrote 30 tests before the Mains. MGP was very useful, especially the personal mentorship we used to get for answer-writing, says the topper.

He advises the aspirants to engage themselves with activities that will help them in the long run, along with preparing the academic part. He participated in Good Governance Yatra and had some amazing experiences there which are going to help as he joins the services.
He also talks about using value additions to the answers by embedding Facts, Diagrams, Committees, Articles, Judgements, etc and using innovative methods like columns, flowcharts, tables, etc to increase the readability of the answer.
