Nagaraja &amp; Ors.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the Supreme Court banned the use of bulls and bullocks in \u201centertainment activities\u201d such as Jallikattu and bullock cart racing, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the court on multiple occasions has held that <strong>animals have a fundamental right against the infliction of pain<\/strong>. It was held in this landmark judgment that the <strong>Bulls must not be used in any type of performance which includes races, bullfights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The judgment also added that <strong>Governments and Animal Welfare Board must protect the \u2018five freedoms\u2019 of animals. <\/strong>This includes<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Freedom from hunger and thirst;<\/li>\n<li>Freedom from discomfort; Freedom from pain, injury, and disease;<\/li>\n<li>Freedom from fear and distress<\/li>\n<li>Freedom to express normal behaviour.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, Due to protests, the governor of Tamil Nadu issued a new ordinance that authorized the continuation of jallikattu events.
