{"id":121236,"date":"2021-07-24T15:05:37","date_gmt":"2021-07-24T09:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=121236"},"modified":"2021-07-26T15:08:04","modified_gmt":"2021-07-26T09:38:04","slug":"national-food-safety-act-nfsa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-food-safety-act-nfsa\/","title":{"rendered":"National Food Safety Act (NFSA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>NFSA,2013:\u00a0<\/strong>It aims to provide food and nutritional security by ensuring access to an adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage<\/strong>: The NFSA covers up to 75% of the rural population and up to 50% of the urban population for receiving foodgrains under the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Categories:\u00a0<\/strong>Identification of beneficiaries under the NFSA is under two categories- households covered under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Households (PHH) within the coverage determined for the State\/UT.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Foodgrains Entitlement:<\/strong>\u00a05 kg per person for PHH category and 35 kg per household for AAY households.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prices<\/strong>: Rs 1\/2\/3 per kg for Nutri-cereals\/wheat\/rice respectively.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nutritional Support to women and children:\u00a0<\/strong>Children in the age group of 6 months to 14 years and pregnant women and lactating mothers will be entitled to meals as per prescribed nutritional norms under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Mid-Day Meal(MDM) schemes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maternity Benefit<\/strong>: Pregnant women and lactating mothers will also be entitled to receive maternity benefits of not less than Rs. 6,000.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Women Empowerment<\/strong>: Eldest woman of the household of age 18 years or above to be the head of the household for the purpose of issuing ration cards.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grievance Redressal Mechanism<\/strong>: Grievance redressal mechanism at the District and State levels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NFSA,2013:\u00a0It aims to provide food and nutritional security by ensuring access to an adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices.
