{"id":125466,"date":"2021-08-11T19:13:34","date_gmt":"2021-08-11T13:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=125466"},"modified":"2021-08-11T19:13:34","modified_gmt":"2021-08-11T13:43:34","slug":"central-electricity-regulatory-commission-cerc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/central-electricity-regulatory-commission-cerc\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About CERC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CERC is a statutory body functioning under sec &#8211; 76 of the Electricity Act 2003.<\/p>\n<p><span><span class=\"col-md-12 pn\">As entrusted by the Electricity Act, 2003 the Commission has the responsibility to discharge the following functions:-<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong><span class=\"style7\">Mandatory Functions:-<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to regulate the tariff of generating companies owned or controlled by the Central Government;.<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to regulate the tariff of generating companies other than those owned or controlled by the Central Government specified in clause (a), if such generating companies enter into or otherwise have a composite scheme for generation and sale of electricity in more than one State;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to regulate the inter-State transmission of electricity ;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to determine tariff for inter-State transmission of electricity;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to issue licences to persons to function as transmission licensee and electricity trader with respect to their inter-State operations;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">Improve access to information for all stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to adjudicate upon disputes involving generating companies or transmission licensee in regard to matters connected with clauses (a) to (d) above and to refer any dispute for arbitration;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to levy fees for the purposes of the Act;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to specify Grid Code having regard to Grid Standards;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to specify and enforce the standards with respect to quality, continuity and reliability of service by licensees;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to fix the trading margin in the inter-State trading of electricity, if considered, necessary;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">to discharge such other functions as may be assigned under the Act.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong><span class=\"style7\">Advisory Functions:-<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\"><span>formulation of National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\">promotion of competition, efficiency and economy in the activities of the electricity industry;<\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\"><span>promotion of investment in electricity industry;<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"col-md-12 pn\"><span>any other matter referred to the Central Commission by the Central Government.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About CERC CERC is a statutory body functioning under sec &#8211; 76 of the Electricity Act 2003.
