The Act creates a\u00a0<strong>mechanism for redressal<\/strong>\u00a0of complaints. It also provides safeguards against false or malicious charges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Every workplace<\/strong>\u00a0is required to constitute an\u00a0<strong>Internal Complaints Committee (ICC).<\/strong>\u00a0The ICC is mandatory\u00a0at each office or branch with 10 or more employees.<\/li>\n<li>These Internal Complaints Committees\u00a0<strong>have the powers of civil courts<\/strong>\u00a0for gathering evidence.<\/li>\n<li>Penalties have been prescribed for employers.\u00a0<strong>Non-compliance with the provisions<\/strong>\u00a0of the Act shall be\u00a0<strong>punishable with a fine<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Higher penalties and cancellation of license<\/strong>\u00a0or registration to conduct business is also mentioned if violations are repeated.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vishakha guidelines were introduced by the apex court in 1997 which was evolved into a parliamentary law called the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act of 2013.
