{"id":129205,"date":"2021-08-27T15:55:55","date_gmt":"2021-08-27T10:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=129205"},"modified":"2021-08-27T15:55:55","modified_gmt":"2021-08-27T10:25:55","slug":"open-defecation-free-odf","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/open-defecation-free-odf\/","title":{"rendered":"Open Defecation Free (ODF)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Open Defecation Free (ODF)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ODF is the termination of faecal-oral transmission, defined by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No visible faeces found in the environment\/village<\/li>\n<li>Every household as well as public\/community institutions using safe technology options for disposal of faeces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Safe technology option means disposal of sewage without contaminating surface soil, groundwater or surface water; excreta inaccessible to flies or animals; no handling of fresh excreta; and freedom from odour and unsightly condition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is ODF+ &amp; ODF ++<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ODF+ and ODF++ were launched in August 2018 to further scale up and sustain the work undertaken by the cities after achieving\u00a0the ODF status under Phase I of the Swachh Bharat Mission \u2014 Urban.<\/p>\n<p>Both ODF+ and ODF++ are aimed towards the proper maintenance of toilet facilities and safe collection, conveyance, treatment\/disposal of all faecal sludge and sewage<\/p>\n<p><strong>ODF +<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ODF+ focuses on toilets with water, maintenance and hygiene<\/p>\n<p><strong>ODF plus village<\/strong> is defined as \u201ca village which sustains its ODF status, ensures solid and liquid waste management and is visually clean.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This includes ensuring that all households in a village, as well as the Primary School, Panchayat Ghar and Anganwadi Centre, have access to a toilet and that all public places and at least 80% of households effectively manage their solid and liquid waste and have a minimal litter and minimal stagnant water<\/p>\n<p><strong>ODF ++<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ODF++ focuses on toilets with sludge and septage management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Open Defecation Free (ODF) ODF is the termination of faecal-oral transmission, defined by: No visible faeces found in the environment\/village Every household as well as public\/community institutions using safe technology options for disposal of faeces.
