The other 5 organs are; the General Assembly, the Trusteeship Council, the Economic and Social Council, the International Court of Justice, and the Secretariat. It is aimed at maintaining international peace and security. It held its first session on 17 January 1946 in Westminster, London.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Headquarters:\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0New York, United States<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Members Countries:\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The UNSC has 15 member<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0consisting of permanent and non-permanent members.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"98\" aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">5 members \u2014 US, UK, Russia, China, and France \u2014 are\u00a0<strong>permanent members<\/strong>. It was established in 1995 and includes \u2013 Italy, Spain, Malta, San Marino, Pakistan, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia &amp; Turkey.<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Recently, India began its two-year non-permanent period at the UNSC along with Norway, Mexico, Ireland, and Kenya. But it is almost certain that India is not getting permanent membership of UNSC anytime soon. Thus, this opportunity should be viewed as a once-in-a-decade opportunity to pursue the national interests of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, India was elected for the years 1950-1951, 1967-1968, 1972-1973, 1977-1978, 1984-1985, 1991-1992, and most recently in 2011-2012.
