Type of Nobel Prize:<\/span><\/b> Originally, the prize was awarded in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace. Later in 1968, a sixth prize was added in the field of economic sciences, but it is not officially called Nobel Prize (Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Prizes may be given only to individuals, except the Peace Prize, which may also be conferred upon an institution.<\/span> However, 3 individuals at max, can share a prize.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All the Nobel Prizes are given in Stockholm, Sweden except for the Nobel Peace Prize which is awarded in Oslo, Norway.<\/p>\n

Each Nobel Prize consists of a gold medal, a diploma bearing a citation, and a sum of money.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first woman to win the Nobel Prize was Marie Curie<\/strong>, and she won the award twice.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nobel Prize and India<\/h5>\n

Poet and writer\u00a0<\/span>Rabindranath Tagore<\/span><\/b>\u00a0was the\u00a0<\/span>first non-European and Indian<\/span><\/b>\u00a0to get a Nobel Prize in 1913 in literature.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

India received its first Nobel Prize in physics in 1930\u00a0when scientist Sir<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman<\/span><\/b>\u00a0was awarded \u201cfor his\u00a0<\/span>work on the scattering of light\u00a0and for the discovery of the effect named after him\u201d.
