The numbers are based on monitoring by WMO\u2019s Global Atmosphere Watch network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key findings of the report:<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_153509\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-153509\" style=\"width: 354px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-153509 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/llghgs.png?resize=354%2C307&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"354\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/llghgs.png?w=354&amp;ssl=1 354w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/llghgs.png?resize=300%2C260&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 354px) 100vw, 354px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-153509\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Image Source-WMO (longlived greenhouse gases)<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The abundance of greenhouse gases(GHG&#8217;s) in the atmosphere once again reached a new record last year, with the annual rate of increase above the 2011-2020 average.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carbon dioxide(CO2)<\/strong> is the single most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, accounting for approximately 66% of the warming effect on the climate, mainly because of fossil fuel combustion and cement production.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Concentration of<\/strong> <strong>CO2<\/strong>, reached 413.2 PPM(parts per million) in 2020 and is 149% of the pre industrial level.<\/li>\n<li>Methane (CH4) is 262% and nitrous oxide (N2O) is 123% of the levels in 1750 when human activities started disrupting Earth\u2019s natural equilibrium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The economic slowdown from <strong>COVID-19<\/strong> did not have any perceptible impact on the atmospheric levels of GHG&#8217;s and their growth rates, although there was a temporary decline in new emissions.<\/li>\n<li>From 1990 to 2020, radiative forcing \u2013 the warming effect on our climate &#8211; by long-lived GHG&#8217;s increased by 47%, with CO2 accounting for about 80% of this increase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About the report- The report is released by World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
