{"id":153747,"date":"2021-12-16T13:04:24","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T07:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=153747"},"modified":"2021-12-16T13:04:24","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T07:34:24","slug":"jal-jeevan-mission-urban","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/jal-jeevan-mission-urban\/","title":{"rendered":"Jal Jeevan Mission (Urban)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News: <\/strong>In the Budget 2021-22, the Government has announced the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission (Urban).<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Jal Jeevan Mission (Urban):<\/strong> The scheme will be implemented first through the signing of MoUs between the Centre, states, and the urban local bodies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nodal Ministry: <\/strong>Ministry of Housing &amp; Urban Affairs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The Jal Jeevan Mission-Urban aims to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">create universal coverage of water supply<\/span> in all 4,378 statutory towns as well as<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> sewage management<\/span> in 500 AMRUT cities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duration: <\/strong>The duration of the mission is over five years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Features of the Jal Jeevan Mission:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It will rejuvenate the water bodies to facilitate sustainable fresh water supply and the creation of green spaces.<\/li>\n<li>It will <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">promote a circular economy of water<\/span> through the development of the city water balance plan in each city. The plan will focus on recycling\/reuse of treated sewage water and water conservation. 20% of water demand is to be met by reused water.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Awareness Campaign: <\/span>Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign are proposed. It will spread awareness among the masses about the conservation of water.<\/li>\n<li>A <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">drinking water survey &#8216;Pey Jal Survekshan&#8221;<\/span> will be conducted in cities. It will ascertain the equitable distribution of water, reuse of wastewater, and mapping of water bodies.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Technology Submission For water:<\/span> <span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">It is proposed to leverage the latest global technologies in the field of water.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The mission has mandated that a city having a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">million-plus population will take up PPP projects<\/span><span style=\"background-color: var(--global--color-background); color: var(--global--color-primary); font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">. These projects shall constitute a minimum of 10% of their total project fund allocation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Funding:\n<ul>\n<li>For Union Territories, there will be 100% central funding.<\/li>\n<li>For North Eastern and Hill States, central funding for projects will be 90%.<\/li>\n<li>Central funding will be 50% for cities with less than 1 lakh population, one-third for cities with 1 lakh to 10 lakh population, and 25% for cities with a million-plus population.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: In the Budget 2021-22, the Government has announced the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission (Urban).
