It is approved as &#8216;Flagship Programme&#8217; by the Union Government in June 2014. The Programme aims to accomplish the twin objectives of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of the National River Ganga<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Launched in: <\/strong>The Programme was launched in 2014. It is an Integrated Conservation Mission under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To achieve effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of the National River (Ganga).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Pillars of the Programme:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sewerage Treatment Infrastructure,<\/li>\n<li>River-Surface Cleaning,<\/li>\n<li>Afforestation,<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Effluent Monitoring,<\/li>\n<li>River-Front Development,<\/li>\n<li>Biodiversity<\/li>\n<li>Public Awareness among others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Implementation:<\/strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)<\/span> is the implementing agency of the NamamiGangeProgramme at the national level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG): <\/strong>It is a statutory authority. It is established under the National Council for River Ganga (Rejuvenation, Protection and Management) Act, 2016.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Projects under the programme:<\/strong> Presently, sewerage infrastructure works for pollution abatement is under execution on <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">13 tributaries of river Ganga.<\/span> These include Yamuna, Kosi, Saryu, Ramganga, Kali (West), Kali (East), Gomti, Kharkari, BurhiGandak, Banka, Damodar, Rispana-Bindal and Chambal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Government of India is currently implementing several initiatives under the NamamiGangeProgramme to clean the polluted rivers of Ganga.
