UPPSC conducts the examination for Provincial Civil Service Examination known as Uttar Pradesh Combined State\/Upper Subordinate (UPPCS) Exam in the Uttar Pradesh State. It is the exam for the highest government services in the state and is also most preferred after the UPSC IAS examination.<\/p>\n

The state government functionaries recruited through this exam, get their posting in various important departments such as land records, land revenue, general administration, etc.<\/p>\n

UPPCS Age limit<\/h4>\n

Following is the upper and lower age limit for sitting in this examination:<\/p>\n

Minimum Age limit- 21 years<\/p>\n

Maximum Age Limit – 40 years<\/p>\n

For Example, the candidates born before July 2, 1981, and after July 1, 2000 were not eligible to appear in the UPPSC 2021 exam.<\/p>\n

About UPPCS Exam Criterion\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The process of the examination conducted by UPPSC for PCS is similar to UPSC IAS Exam. The UPPCS exam has three stages selection process and the candidates must pass all three stages of the UPPCS exam to qualify for the services. The stages of the selection process are given below.<\/p>\n

1. Prelims Exam<\/strong>: It is the first stage of the UPPCS selection process. UPPCS Prelims exmination consists of 2 papers: 1) General Studies Paper 1 2) CSAT Paper 2<\/p>\n

2. Main Exam (written):<\/strong> UPPSC conducts the UPPCS main exam on the pattern of the UPSC Main (written) exam. The UPPSC UPPCS main exam consists of 8 papers in total: 4 General Studies Paper, 1 essay paper, 2 optional papers, and one Hindi paper.<\/p>\n

3. Interview:<\/strong> The personality test is the final stage of the UPPCS examination. This stage has been assigned 100 marks for the personality test, and it is an important stage in deciding the final rank. The questions asked in the interview stage are mainly from current events and the Detail Application Form (DAF) filled at the time of the mains exam.<\/p>\n

UPPCS\u00a0\u00a0Examination\u00a0is also known as ‘Combined State\/Separate\u00a0Upper\u00a0Subordinate Services Examination (General Selection\/Special Selection)’.\u00a0Every year a lot of students appear in this prestigious state exam. However the selection ratio remains\u00a0meager due to the fierce competition .Presently this is the most popular exam conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC).\u00a0The present article discusses the nature and various phases of exam along with the process of these phases.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nature of Exam:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

This competitive examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission generally consists of three levels sequentially-<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Preliminary Examination \u2013 Objective in Nature<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Main Examination – Conventional Written (Descriptive) in Nature<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Interview \u2013 This is a personality test which is oral in nature<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Process of Preliminary Examination:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

First of all, a notification related to these examinations is issued by the commission. The notification comprises of detailed information regarding number of posts, syllabus and schedule of the exam etc. Just after the issuing the notification, the process of registration and filling the online\u00a0application form\u00a0start. The detailed information regarding the process of filling the form is given under the heading ‘How to apply online?’ under the ‘Notification’.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A detailed description of various aspects related to the said examination is given in the notification. Therefore, it is beneficial to study the detailed\u00a0notification\u00a0 before\u00a0filling the form.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Preliminary examination is usually conducted after 3 to 4 months\u00a0once\u00a0 the\u00a0form filling process is over.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • This preliminary examination is conducted on the same day at different centers of the state as decided by the commission.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • This preliminary examination conducted by the commission is objective (multiple choice) in nature, in which one has to choose the correct option out of four possible options (a, b, c and d) given for each question.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • An OMR sheet is provided along with the question paper.\u00a0TheOMR\u00a0sheet consists of bubbles that student need to fill for all right options. The OMR sheet also contains certain other information of student such as roll number, registration number and\u00a0question set etc.\u00a0The\u00a0OMR\u00a0sheet\u00a0has to be filled with black or blue ball point pen at the appropriate place in the respective circle given in front of it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • There is a provision of\u00a0one third negative\u00a0marking\u00a0\u00a0for\u00a0every wrong answer in the prelims\u00a0examination\u00a0.\u00a0If a candidate gives more than one answer to a question, then that answer is treated as wrong.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The question papers are given in two languages \u200b\u200b(Hindi and English). In case of any dispute regarding the language of the question, preference is given to the questions printed in English language.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • The commission has changed the nature of this preliminary examination in the year 2012, according to which the question paper of CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) was adopted instead of the optional subject (objective) asked in the second paper.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • At present, two compulsory papers (General Studies and CSAT respectively) are asked in this\u00a0examination\u00a0.\u00a0The prelims exam is conducted\u00a0on the same day in two different shifts (from 9.30 to 11.30 A.M. and 2.30 to 4.30 P.M. respectively).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • The first paper is of General Studies, in which the total number of questions is 150 and the maximum marks are 200.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • The second paper is of CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test), in which the total number of questions is 100 and the maximum marks are 200.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Since the year 2016\u00a0CSAT paper of\u00a0the preliminary examination of has been made qualifying only. It is mandatory to get minimum 33% marks to be successful in this\u00a0paper.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • The order of merit of the candidates in this examination is determined on the basis of their marks in the first paper\u00a0of General Studies.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Generally 70-75% marks are required to pass this exam, but sometimes this percentage can be less depending on the difficulty level of the questions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
