{"id":154416,"date":"2021-12-17T21:02:47","date_gmt":"2021-12-17T15:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=154416"},"modified":"2021-12-17T21:02:47","modified_gmt":"2021-12-17T15:32:47","slug":"cop-15-to-the-united-nations-convention-on-biological-diversity","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/cop-15-to-the-united-nations-convention-on-biological-diversity\/","title":{"rendered":"COP-15 to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About the CoP-15:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>theme<\/strong> of the declaration is &#8220;Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>COP-15 is being held to review the achievement and delivery of the CBD\u2019s Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and &#8216;Aichi Biodiversity Targets&#8217;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key outcomes of the meeting:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<strong>Kunming Declaration<\/strong>\u201d was adopted by over 100 countries in the ongoing virtual 15th meeting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It calls upon the parties to \u201cmainstream\u201d biodiversity protection in decision-making and recognise the importance of conservation in protecting human health.<\/li>\n<li>They should ensure that the post-pandemic recovery plans contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, promoting sustainable and inclusive development.<\/li>\n<li>The declaration expects signatory nations to synchronize Biodiversity plans with the three UN decades program which are on \u2018Sustainable Development\u2019, \u2018Ecosystem Restoration\u2019, \u2018Ocean Science for Sustainable Development\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>China established the <strong>Kunming Biodiversity Fund<\/strong> to support projects for protecting biodiversity in developing countries.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the <strong>Global Environment Facility, <\/strong>with <strong>UNDP and the UNEP,<\/strong> announced their commitment to fast-track immediate <strong>financial and technical support to developing country<\/strong> governments to prepare for the rapid implementation of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.<\/p>\n<p>Involvement of the<strong> private sector, world leaders<\/strong> was called for bold reforms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adoption of the 30 by 30 Targets: <\/strong>To protect 30% of the Earth\u2019s land and oceans protected status by 2030.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About the CoP-15: The theme of the declaration is &#8220;Ecological Civilization: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth&#8221;.
