This subject involves procedures such as IVF, intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), cryopreservation of gametes or embryos, and\/or the use of fertility medication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>A colloquial term for babies conceived as the result of IVF, is <strong>&#8220;test tube babies&#8221;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In vitro comes from the latin word \u2018in glass\u2019, i.e. studies are done in a test tube rather than in a human or animal.\n<ul>\n<li>The opposite to \u2018In-vitro\u2019 is \u2018In-vivo\u2019, which comes from the latin word \u2018within the living\u2019. In vivo refers to experimentation being done in a living organism.<\/li>\n<li>In vitro means outside the body. Fertilization means the sperm has attached to and entered the egg.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>IVF procedure: <\/strong>It works by using a combination of medicines and surgical procedures to help sperm fertilize an egg, and help the fertilized egg implant in the uterus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First <\/strong>step<strong>&#8211; ovulation induction-<\/strong>Taking fertility medications for several months to help ovaries produce several eggs that are mature and ready for fertilization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second<\/strong> step- <strong>egg retrieval<\/strong>&#8211; Egg is removed\u00a0 from women&#8217;s body.<\/p>\n<p>Third step- <strong>insemination<\/strong>&#8211; In a lab,\u00a0 eggs are mixed with sperm cells from other partner or a donor.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The eggs and sperm are stored together in a special container, and fertilization happens.<\/li>\n<li>The cells in the fertilized eggs divide and <strong>become embryos.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fourth<\/strong> step- <strong>embryo transfer<\/strong>&#8211; one or more embryos are put into the uterus.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-155358 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ivf.png?resize=620%2C422&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ivf.png?w=620&amp;ssl=1 620w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ivf.png?resize=300%2C204&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About IVF: It is one of the more widely known types of assisted reproductive technology (ART).
