{"id":156437,"date":"2021-12-27T20:10:48","date_gmt":"2021-12-27T14:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=156437"},"modified":"2021-12-27T20:10:48","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T14:40:48","slug":"panna-tiger-reserveptr","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/panna-tiger-reserveptr\/","title":{"rendered":"Panna Tiger Reserve(PTR)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About PTR:\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-156445 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ptr_map.jpg?resize=424%2C322&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"424\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ptr_map.jpg?w=552&amp;ssl=1 552w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ptr_map.jpg?resize=300%2C228&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 424px) 100vw, 424px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>&#8211; Vindhyan Hills in northern <strong>Madhya Pradesh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is spread over the Panna and Chhatarpur districts.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>22nd Tiger Reserve of India<\/strong>(1994) and fifth in Madhya Pradesh .<\/li>\n<li>The terrain here consists of extensive <strong>plateaus and gorges.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This reserve contains the last remaining tiger habitat of North Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Significance:<\/strong> It is the <strong>northern most boundary of<\/strong> natural distribution to <strong>teak forests<\/strong> (Tectona grandis).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In east, it is surrounded by Teak-Kardhai mixed forest.<\/li>\n<li>The reserve is also dotted with <strong>two thousand year-old rock paintings.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>River<\/strong>&#8211; Flowing from the south to the north through the reserve is the <strong>River Ken <\/strong>and creates beautiful <strong>waterfalls<\/strong> on its way to the valley.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These forests along with <strong>Ken Gharial Sanctuary<\/strong> form a significant part of the catchment area of this river.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Climate:<\/strong> semi-Arid to Dry Sub-humid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fauna:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tiger along with his fellow beings leopard , wild dog , wolf , hyaena and smaller cats.<\/li>\n<li>Sloth bear has his most favourite home in the rock escarpments and undisturbed vales.<\/li>\n<li>The wooded areas are dotted with sambar the largest of Indian deers, chital and chowsingha.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>&#8211; The dominating vegetation type is Miscellaneous Dry Deciduous forest interspread with grassland areas.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Other major forest types are riverines, open grasslands, open woodlands with tall grasses and thorny woodlands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About PTR:\u00a0 Location&#8211; Vindhyan Hills in northern Madhya Pradesh.
