{"id":156474,"date":"2021-12-27T22:33:03","date_gmt":"2021-12-27T17:03:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=156474"},"modified":"2021-12-27T22:33:03","modified_gmt":"2021-12-27T17:03:03","slug":"economically-weaker-sections-ewss","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/economically-weaker-sections-ewss\/","title":{"rendered":"Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About EWS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Constitution (103rd) Amendment Act 2019<\/strong> provides for the creation of the special EWS quota for r<strong>eservation in employment and educational institutions.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The act<strong> inserted clauses 15(6) and 16(6)<\/strong> in the Constitution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It EWS quota provides <strong>10% reservation<\/strong> to people over and above the existing reservations.<\/li>\n<li>It was granted based on the recommendations of a <strong>commission<\/strong> headed by Major General (retd)<strong> SR Sinho.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It enables both Centre and the states to provide reservation to the EWS category people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People who are not covered under the existing reservations for BCs, SCs, STs and whose gross annual family income is below Rs 8 lakh per annum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Exclusion criteria<\/strong>: persons whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>5 acres of Agricultural Land and above;<\/li>\n<li>Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above;<\/li>\n<li>Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities;<\/li>\n<li>Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the<br \/>\nnotified municipalities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About EWS: The Constitution (103rd) Amendment Act 2019 provides for the creation of the special EWS quota for reservation in employment and educational institutions.
