{"id":157487,"date":"2021-12-30T22:02:42","date_gmt":"2021-12-30T16:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=157487"},"modified":"2021-12-30T22:02:42","modified_gmt":"2021-12-30T16:32:42","slug":"un-capital-development-fund","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/un-capital-development-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Capital Development Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>About UNCDF:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It makes public and private <strong>finance work for the poor in<\/strong> the world\u2019s <strong>47<\/strong> least developed countries (<strong>LDCs<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>offers \u201clast mile\u201d finance models<\/strong> that unlock public and private resources, especially at the domestic level,<strong> to reduce poverty<\/strong> and<strong> support local economic development.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarter- <\/strong>New York and works worldwide out of <strong>3 Regional Offices<\/strong>, Dakar, Addis Ababa and Bangkok.<\/li>\n<li>UNCDF is an <strong>autonomous<\/strong> institution <strong>affiliated with UNDP.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>UNCDF contributes to SDG 1, SDG 17 directly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>History:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UNCDF was <strong>established by<\/strong> the UN <strong>General Assembly in 1966<\/strong> with the mandate to assist developing countries in the development of their economies by supplementing existing sources of capital assistance by means of grants and loans.<\/li>\n<li>The mandate was modified in 1973 to serve first and foremost but not exclusively the LDCs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Funding of UNCDF:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>voluntarily funded<\/strong> UN organization. Its funding comes from UN member states, foundations and the private sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>UNCDF\u2019s financing models:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It works through <strong>3 channels:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Inclusive digital economies<\/strong>, which <strong>connects individuals, households, and small businesses with financial eco-systems<\/strong> that catalyze participation in the local economy, and provide tools to come out of poverty and manage finances;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Local development finance<\/strong>, which <strong>capacitates localities to drive local economic expansion<\/strong> and sustainable development through:\n<ul>\n<li>fiscal decentralization;<\/li>\n<li>innovative municipal finance;<\/li>\n<li>structured project finance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Investment finance<\/strong>, which provides catalytic<strong> financial structuring<\/strong>, <strong>de-risking,<\/strong> and <strong>capital deployment to drive SDG<\/strong> impact and<strong> domestic resource mobilization<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About UNCDF: It makes public and private finance work for the poor in the world\u2019s 47 least developed countries (LDCs).
