{"id":160832,"date":"2022-01-12T11:29:45","date_gmt":"2022-01-12T05:59:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?page_id=160832"},"modified":"2022-03-11T23:00:52","modified_gmt":"2022-03-11T17:30:52","slug":"article-243s-of-indian-constitution","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-243s-of-indian-constitution\/","title":{"rendered":"Article 243S of Indian Constitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"next_prev d-flex justify-content-between\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-243r-of-indian-constitution\/\" class=\"btn btn-outline-secondary\"><i class=\"fa-solid fa-angle-left\"><\/i> Article 243R<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-243t-of-indian-constitution\/\" class=\"btn btn-outline-secondary ml-2\">Article 243T<i class=\"fa-solid fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/a>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Constitution and composition of Wards Committees, etc.<\/strong>\u2014<\/p>\n<p>(1) There shall be constituted Wards Committees, consisting of one or more wards, within the territorial area of a Municipality having a population of three lakhs or more.<\/p>\n<p>(2) The Legislature of a State may, by law, make provision with respect to\u2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(a) the composition and the territorial area of a Wards Committee;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(b) the manner in which the seats in a Wards Committee shall be filled.<\/p>\n<p>(3) A member of a Municipality representing a ward within the territorial area of the Wards Committee shall be a member of that Committee.<\/p>\n<p>(4) Where a Wards Committee consists of\u2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(a) one ward, the member representing that ward in the Municipality; or<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(b) two or more wards, one of the members representing such wards in the Municipality elected by the members of the Wards Committee, shall be the Chairperson of that Committee.<\/p>\n<p>(5) Nothing in this article shall be deemed to prevent the Legislature of a State from making any provision for the constitution of Committees in addition to the Wards Committees.<\/p>\n<div class=\"next_prev d-flex justify-content-between\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-243r-of-indian-constitution\/\" class=\"btn btn-outline-secondary\"><i class=\"fa-solid fa-angle-left\"><\/i> Article 243R<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/article-243t-of-indian-constitution\/\" class=\"btn btn-outline-secondary ml-2\">Article 243T<i class=\"fa-solid fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/a>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Article 243R Article 243T Constitution and composition of Wards Committees, etc.\u2014 (1) There shall be constituted Wards Committees, consisting of one or more wards, within the territorial area of a Municipality having a population of three lakhs or more.
