The <\/span>official language<\/span><\/b> used for communication between the States shall be the language that has been in use at the time of adoption of the Constitution.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If <\/span>\u2018two or more states agree\u2019<\/span><\/b> Hindi may be used for the official communication between the states.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Article 344 (4)<\/span><\/b> provides for a \u2018<\/span>Committee consisting of thirty members\u2019<\/span><\/b> for <\/span>safeguarding language<\/span><\/b> related provisions. It comprises of <\/span>\u2018twenty members<\/span><\/b> from the Parliament and \u2018<\/span>ten members<\/span><\/b>\u2019 from State assemblies<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MHRD has the scope to promote language at the <\/span>level of education<\/span><\/b> and as the <\/span>cultural expression.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MHA is responsible to protect the linguistic rights of language minorities and the promotion of Hindi. However, Hindu language should be promoted <\/span>\u2018without interference with other languages\u201d<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
