It has red and black stripes on its body.<\/p>\n IUCN Status<\/b><\/strong>: Endangered<\/p>\n Habitat<\/b><\/strong>: It is a native freshwater fish species,<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0commonly found in parts of Karnataka and Kerala. This species is known to inhabit fast-flowing hill streams and is often found in rocky pools with thick vegetation along river banks.<\/p>\n Threats:<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0The fish species is being exploited for the aquarium trade. The species accounts constitutes 60 \u2013 65% of the total live ornamental fish exported from India.
