Union of India\u00a0(2000) held that parole does not amount to suspension of sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Prisons Act, 1894\u00a0and the\u00a0Prisoners Act, 1900\u00a0do not contain any specific provision pertaining to parole and furlough.<\/p>\n<p>However, Section 59 of the Prisons Act empowers States to make rules for the shortening of sentences as rewards for good conduct.
