PAPER -I<\/h5>\n

(Answers must be written in Konkani)<\/strong>
\nSection A<\/strong><\/p>\n

History of the Konkani Language :<\/strong>
\n(i) Origin and development of the language and influences on it.
\n(ii) Major variants of Konkani and their linguistic features.
\n(iii) Grammatical and lexicographic work in Konkani, including a study of cases, adverbs,
\nindeclinables and voices.
\n(iv) Old Standard Konkani, New Standard and Standardisation problems.<\/p>\n

Section B<\/strong><\/p>\n

History of Konkani Literature<\/strong>
\nCandidates would be expected to be well-acquainted with Konkani literature and its social and
\ncultural background and consider the problems and issues arising out of them.
\n(i) History of Konkani literature from its probable source to the present times, with
\nemphasis on its major works, writers and movements.
\n(ii) Social and cultural background of the making of Konkani literature from time to time.
\n(iii) Indian and Western influences on Konkani literature, from the earliest to modern times.
\n(iv) Modern literary trends in the various genres and regions including a study of Konkani
\nfolklore.<\/p>\n

PAPER-II<\/h5>\n

(Answers must be written in Konkani)<\/strong>
\nTextual Criticism of Konkani Literature
\nThe paper will be designed to test the candidate\u2019s critical and analytical abilities. Candidates
\nwould be expected to be well-acquainted with Konkani Literature and required to have first-hand
\nreading of the following texts :<\/p>\n
