It <\/p>\n<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Spices Board India and UNDPs India\u2019s Accelerator Lab signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU). The MoU aims to build a blockchain-based traceability interface for Indian spices. It will enhance transparency in the supply chain and trade.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About blockchain-based traceability interface:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Blockchain-based traceability interface<\/strong>\u00a0will be integrated with the e-Spice Bazaar portal. The portal was developed by Spices Board India for connecting spices farmers with markets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It will bring ease and transparency in data management across a complex network. This network includes farmers, distributors, processors, retailers, regulators, and consumers thus simplifying the supply chain.<\/li>\n<li>It will also allow farmers and other stakeholders to access the information. This makes the entire supply chain more efficient and equitable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>What is <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/blockchain-technology-4\/\">Blockchain Technology<\/a>?<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/remote-voting-facility-in-india-explained-pointwise\/#Blockchain_Technology\">blockchain<\/a> is a distributed ledger of information. It replicates across various nodes on a \u201cpeer-to-peer\u201d network (P2P Network).<\/li>\n<li>The data exists on multiple computers at the same time. It constantly grows as new sets of recordings or blocks add to it in a decentralization manner.<\/li>\n<li>All transactions on a standard Blockchain are <b>verified and signed with cryptography. <\/b>It is\u00a0to ensure\u00a0<b>security and anonymity.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cryptography:<\/strong> It is the process of converting ordinary plain text into unintelligible text and vice-versa.<\/li>\n<li>The intended person can encrypt the coded message and use them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The ledger can record many transactions such as monetary transactions, property transfer, and even ballot storage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About Spices Board India:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Spices Board <\/strong>is one of the five Commodity Boards functioning under the Ministry of Commerce &amp; Industry.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose: <\/strong>It is an autonomous body responsible for the export promotion of the 52 scheduled spices and development of Cardamom (Small &amp; Large).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Functions<\/strong>: The main functions of the Spices Board are,\n<ul>\n<li>Research, Development, and Regulation of domestic marketing of Small &amp; Large Cardamom;<\/li>\n<li>Post-harvest improvement of all spices;<\/li>\n<li>Export promotion of all spices. Further, it will assist the exporters in technology up-gradation, quality management, brand promotion, research &amp; product development;<\/li>\n<li>Development of spices in the North East;<\/li>\n<li>Regulation of quality of spices for exports through its quality evaluation services; etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About UNDP Accelerator Lab:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Accelerator Lab<\/strong> is an innovative initiative by the UNDP, Qatar Government and the Federal Republic of Germany. It aims to find 21st-century solutions to today\u2019s complex new challenges.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose: <\/strong>These labs seek to identify grassroots solutions together with local actors.
