{"id":100578,"date":"2021-04-08T17:05:55","date_gmt":"2021-04-08T11:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=100578"},"modified":"2021-04-08T22:21:39","modified_gmt":"2021-04-08T16:51:39","slug":"indias-initiatives-in-seychelles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/indias-initiatives-in-seychelles\/","title":{"rendered":"India&#8217;s Initiatives in Seychelles"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Indian Prime Minister will gift a Fast Patrol Vessel named PS Zoroaster to Seychelles during the virtual event.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>India\u2019s Assistance to Seychelles:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Fast Patrol Vessel PS Zoroaster:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fast Patrol Vessel(FPV) PS Zoroaster <\/strong>will be built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineering.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purpose: <\/strong>It is useful for multi-purpose operations such as patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-poaching, and search and rescue(SAR).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance<\/strong>: This is the fourth Fast Patrol Vessel that India has gifted to Seychelles. Other gifted vessels by India include PS Topaz (2005), PS Constant (2014), Patrol Boat Hermes (2016).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Solar Power Plant:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>India will also hand over a <strong>1 MW Solar Power Plant <\/strong>at Romainville Island of Seychelles.<\/li>\n<li>The plant is a part of the <strong>\u2018Solar photovoltaic Democratization Project<\/strong>\u2019. India is implementing this project in Seychelles under grant assistance.<\/li>\n<li>The solar plant project will generate around <strong>14 lakh units of power <\/strong>annually. Further, It will meet the electricity consumption demand of around 400 Seychellois houses around the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Magistrate Court:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Also, India and Seychelles will jointly inaugurate the <strong>new Magistrates\u2019 Court Building <\/strong>in Victoria, Seychelles.<\/li>\n<li>This Court Building is <strong>India\u2019s first major civil infrastructure project<\/strong> in Seychelles, built with grant assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note: Interesting to know, India is contributing <\/strong>over 50% of Seychelles\u2019 maritime and air assets and around 70% of capacity development in terms of training, exercise, and human resource expertise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/epaper.thehindu.com\/Home\/MShareArticle?OrgId=GJR8F6D90.1&amp;imageview=0\"><strong>The Hindu<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
