{"id":102479,"date":"2021-04-20T17:11:28","date_gmt":"2021-04-20T11:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=102479"},"modified":"2021-04-21T09:34:33","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T04:04:33","slug":"national-climate-vulnerability-assessment-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-climate-vulnerability-assessment-report\/","title":{"rendered":"National Climate Vulnerability Assessment Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The Department of Science and Technology(DST) has released the National climate vulnerability assessment report.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About National Climate Vulnerability Assessment Report:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The National Climate Vulnerability Assessment Report <\/strong>identifies the most vulnerable states and districts in India, as per the current climate risk and key drivers of vulnerability.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Indicators: <\/strong>Several key drivers of Vulnerability used by the report for the assessment, For instance: 1) percentage of the population living below the poverty line; 2) income share from natural resources; 3) Also, the proportion of marginal and small landholdings, 4) women\u2019s participation in the workforce, and; 5) the density of healthcare workers among others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Participation<\/strong>: Around 24 states and 2 Union Territories participated in the exercise. The DST and the Swiss Agency for Development &amp; Cooperation(SDC) organized it jointly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Key Findings:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Firstly, High Climate Vulnerable States:<\/strong> The report identifies eight eastern states as highly vulnerable to climate change: Jharkhand, Mizoram, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and West Bengal.\n<ul>\n<li>These states are mostly from the eastern part of the country. Thus, they require prioritization of adaptation interventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Secondly, Lower-middle Vulnerable States<\/b>: Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, and Punjab.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thirdly, Low Vulnerable States<\/strong>: Uttarakhand, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Nagaland, Goa and Maharashtra.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fourthly, Climate Vulnerable Districts: <\/strong>The report also identifies Climate Vulnerable districts. According to it, among all states, Assam, Bihar, and Jharkhand have over 60% districts in the category of highly vulnerable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Significance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The assessment will help Policymakers in taking appropriate climate actions.<\/li>\n<li>Further, it will also benefit climate-vulnerable communities across India through the development of better-designed climate change adaptation projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/newsonair.com\/Main-News-Details.aspx?id=414501\"><strong>AIR<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
