Its objective is to create awareness about and promote various tourism destinations in India. It is also an effort to showcase India\u2019s rich diversity under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Read Also-<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/coal-sector-reforms-to-reduce-co2-emissions\/\"> Coal sector reforms to reduce CO2 emissions<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h5><strong>About Khajuraho Temples:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Khajuraho Group of Monuments<\/strong> is a group of Hindu and Jain temples in Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Built by:<\/strong> the Chandella rulers between AD 900 and 1130.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Situated in: <\/strong>within the Vindhya Mountain range in Central India.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/gwalior-orchha-on-unesco-world-heritage-city-list\/\">UNESCO<\/a> Site<\/strong>: The temple got the status of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">UNESCO\u2019s World Heritage Site<\/span>\u00a0in 1986.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Style<\/strong>: The temples are famous for their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nagara-style architectural<\/span> symbolism and their erotic sculptures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Temples<\/strong>: The temples are categorized into three groups that are Eastern, Western and Southern.\n<ul>\n<li>To name a few temples are Kandariya Mahadev Temple, Chaunsat Yogini Temple, Brahma Temple, Chitragupta Temple, Devi Jagdamba Temple, Lakshmana Temple, Matangeshwar Temple, Parsvanath Temple.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance<\/strong>: These temples are famous for intricate &amp; exceptional carvings and surprising architectural skills. The first documented mention of Khajuraho was made in 641 by Xuanzang, a Chinese pilgrim.\n<ul>\n<li>Later, Khajuraho temples also found mention by Abu Raihan al Biruni in AD 1022 and the Arab traveler Ibn Battuta in AD 1335.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Government Initiatives: <\/strong>The Ministry of Tourism included <strong>Khajuraho Temples<\/strong> as one of the sites under the \u201cIconic Tourist Sites Initiative\u201d.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Iconic Tourist Sites Initiative <\/strong>announced in Budget 2019-20.
