This is an 11.4% increase over the past decade.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The six main gases under <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/progress-on-paris-climate-change-agreement-in-india-and-world\/\"><strong>Kyoto Protocol<\/strong><\/a><strong> are<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Carbon dioxide (CO2);<\/li>\n<li>Methane(CH4);<\/li>\n<li>Nitrous oxide(N2O);<\/li>\n<li>Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs);<\/li>\n<li>Perfluorocarbons(PFCs);<\/li>\n<li>Sulphur hexafluoride(SF6).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Of the total emissions, <strong>China alone contributed more than 27% of total Global Greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong>. Further, China\u2019s greenhouse gas emissions in 2019 exceeded the combined emissions of the US and other developed nations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>China\u2019s net emissions<\/strong> in 2020 also increased by roughly 1.7%. This is significant as the emissions from almost all other countries had declined during the pandemic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>However, China\u2019s history<\/strong> as a major emitter is relatively short compared to developed countries. Since 1750, members of the OECD bloc have emitted four times more CO2 on a cumulative basis than China.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The United States is the second-highest<\/strong> emitter. The US alone contributed 11% of the total Global Greenhouse gas emissions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For the first time, India <\/strong>has surpassed the European Union and became the third-highest Global Greenhouse gas emitter.
