CSIR-CMERI has celebrated National Technology Day- 2021 by interacting with the MSME Representatives.<\/p>\n

About CSIR-CMERI:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

  • Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute <\/strong>(also known as CSIR-CMERI) is a public engineering research and development institution. It was founded in 1959.<\/li>\n
  • Part of: <\/strong>The institute is a constituent laboratory of the Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).<\/li>\n
  • Purpose<\/strong>: The aim of the institute is to develop national mechanical engineering technology, particularly in order to help Indian industries.\n
      \n
    • Currently, the Institute <\/strong>is making R&D efforts in areas such as Robotics, Mechatronics, Cybernetics, Manufacturing, Precision agriculture, embedded system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Located at: <\/strong>Durgapur, West Bengal<\/li>\n
    • Significance: <\/strong>This institute is the only national-level research institute in the field of mechanical engineering in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      National Technology Day:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

      • National Technology Day <\/strong>has been celebrated every year on May 11 since 1999.<\/li>\n
      • Aim<\/strong>: The day aims to commemorate the scientific and technological achievements of Indian scientists and engineers.<\/li>\n
      • Theme: <\/strong>Technology Development Board(TDB) selects a theme for each year’s event. The theme of 2021 is \u201cScience and Technology for a Sustainable Future\u201d.<\/li>\n
      • Significance of this day:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Firstly, <\/strong>on this day, on May 11, 1998, India conducted 3 successful nuclear tests at the Indian Army’s Pokhran Test Range in Rajasthan under Operation Shakti.<\/li>\n
        • Secondly, <\/strong>the day also commemorates the flight of \u201cHansa-3\u2033. It was India\u2019s first-ever indigenous aircraft. The National Aerospace Laboratories had developed it.<\/li>\n
        • Lastly, <\/strong>the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) test-fired the Trishul missile on this day. Further, it is a surface-to-air short-range missile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
