{"id":106496,"date":"2021-05-12T17:29:37","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T11:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=106496"},"modified":"2021-05-12T22:00:51","modified_gmt":"2021-05-12T16:30:51","slug":"national-bamboo-mission-launches-mis-module-for-agarbatti-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/national-bamboo-mission-launches-mis-module-for-agarbatti-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;National Bamboo Mission&#8221; launches MIS module for Agarbatti industry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>National Bamboo Mission has launched an MIS (Management Information Systems) based reporting platform for strengthening the domestic agarbatti industry.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>About MIS System for agarbatti industry:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MIS (Management Information Systems) <\/strong>has been launched to help collate data on\n<ul>\n<li>Agarbatti stick production,<\/li>\n<li>The locations of stick making units,<\/li>\n<li>Availability of raw material,<\/li>\n<li>Functioning of the units, production capacity, marketing among others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About National Bamboo Mission:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>National Bamboo Mission(NBM) <\/strong>was initially started as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme in 2006-07.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The mission was later subsumed<\/strong> under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture(MIDH) during 2014-15 and continued till 2015-16.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Restructured National Bamboo Mission:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The restructured National Bamboo Mission(NBM) <\/strong>was launched in 2018-19 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Objectives of the mission:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Firstly, to increase the area under bamboo plantation<\/strong> in non-forest Government and private lands. This is to supplement farm income and contribute towards resilience to climate change.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secondly, to improve post-harvest management <\/strong>through the establishment of innovative primary processing units. These units were particularly located near the source of production, primary treatment, and seasoning plants, and market infrastructure.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thirdly, to promote product development <\/strong>at micro, small and medium levels and feed bigger industry.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fourthly, to rejuvenate<\/strong> the underdeveloped bamboo industry in India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fifthly, to promote skill development, <\/strong>capacity building, awareness generation for the development of the bamboo sector.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lastly, to re-align efforts<\/strong> to reduce dependency on the import of bamboo and bamboo products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Key Features of the mission:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Firstly, Hub and Spoke Model:<\/strong> The Mission is being implemented in a hub (industry) and spoke model. The main goal is to connect farmers to markets. This enables farmers to get a ready market for the bamboo.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secondly, Subsidy<\/strong>: Under the mission, a direct subsidy of 50% is given to farmers at Rs 1.00 lakh per ha. The Direct subsidy is provided 100% to Government agencies. There is also a subsidy for entrepreneurs to set up various product development units.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thirdly, Implementation<\/strong>: The Mission is presently implemented by 21 States. This includes all the 9 States of the North Eastern Region(NER).
