{"id":10815,"date":"2019-10-10T16:26:35","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T10:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/factly.forumias.com\/?p=10815"},"modified":"2019-10-10T16:26:35","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T10:56:35","slug":"gemini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/gemini\/","title":{"rendered":"GEMINI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>Union Minister for Earth Sciences launched the Gagan Enabled Mariner\u2019s Instrument for Navigation and Information (GEMINI) device.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About GEMINI:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>GEMINI stands for Gagan Enabled Mariner\u2019s Instrument for Navigation and Information.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The device has been developed by Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) and Airports Authority of India (AAI).<\/li><li>It is electronically designed and manufactured by a private industry M\/S Acord,Bangalore under Make in India Program.<\/li><li>The device will disseminate information about emergency situations, communication on disaster warnings, potential fishing zones and ocean states forecasts to the fishermen.<\/li><li>The device is exclusively designed for fishermen about disasters when they are 10 to 12 km away from the coast.<\/li><li>The GEMINI device receives and transfers the data received from GAGAN satellite to a mobile through Bluetooth communication.&nbsp;<\/li><li>A mobile application developed by INCOIS decodes and displays the information in nine regional languages.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/WMIz4mzqt7lO88VTxHcQy9JU_ywxGnl84rbEjDQCoIK4J6vLG5Gady4tyEb0RjGSumQHSApl1V7jzHscSTO75Xgu1sP4e-TGx-FqGouBai53ilri1DjrpnUm5RcLpGcPOdj8JQIA\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional information:<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About GAGAN:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation(GAGAN) is a step by the Indian Government towards initial Satellite-based Navigation Services in India.&nbsp;<\/li><li>It is a system to improve the accuracy of a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver by providing reference signals.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have collaborated to develop GAGAN as a regional Satellite Based Augmentation System(SBAS).&nbsp;<\/li><li>GAGAN&#8217;s goal is to provide a navigation system to assist aircraft in accurate landing over the Indian airspace and in the adjoining area and applicable to safety-to-life civil operations.<\/li><li>GAGAN covers the area from Africa to Australia and has expansion capability for seamless navigation services across the region.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services(INCOIS):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>INCOIS is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).<\/li><li>It is located in Hyderabad &amp; was established in 1999 under the MoES and is a unit of the Earth System Science Organization (ESSO).<\/li><li>It is mandated to provide the best possible ocean information and advisory services to society, industry, government agencies and the scientific community.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Airport authority of India(AAI):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Airports Authority of India or AAI is a statutory body (created through the Airports Authority of India Act, 1994) working under the Ministry of Civil Aviation.<\/li><li>It is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India.<\/li><li>It provides Communication Navigation Surveillance \/ Air Traffic Management (CNS\/ATM) services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:Union Minister for Earth Sciences launched the Gagan Enabled Mariner\u2019s Instrument for Navigation and Information (GEMINI) device.
