During the summit the EU leaders has agreed to donate 100 million doses of <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/ipr-waiver-for-covid-19-vaccines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Covid-19 vaccines<\/a><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Key Highlights of the Summit: <\/strong>During the Summit:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Firstly, <\/strong>the European Union leaders have committed to donate at least 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccines to middle and low-income countries before the end of 2021.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secondly, <\/strong>the EU will provide assistance to non-EU countries to help them <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">develop local manufacturing capacity<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thirdly, the EU <\/strong>has reiterated their support for the UN-backed COVAX programme.\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/covax-program\/\">COVAX program<\/a> aims to ensure equitable access to COVID-19 shots for low-and middle-income countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lastly, <\/strong>the summit did <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not mention anything about lifting the <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/intellectual-property-rightsipr-and-universal-vaccination-explained-pointwise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">intellectual property rights of Covid-19 vaccines<\/a><\/span> proposed by countries like India and South Africa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About European Union(EU):<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/brexituk-leaves-the-european-union\/\">European Union<\/a> (EU) <\/strong>is a political and economic union of 27 member states primarily located in Europe.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The EU was created<\/strong> by the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Maastricht Treaty<\/span>.
