It is a rare condition associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection that was first defined in April 2020.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Caused by: <\/strong>It is not known what triggers the condition. But it is thought to be a rare <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">immune overreaction that occurs in children<\/span> approximately four to six weeks after mild or asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms: <\/strong>It includes fever, rash, eye infection, and gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g. diarrhoea, stomach ache, nausea). In some rare cases, the condition can <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">lead to multi-organ failure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Diagnosis: <\/strong>Currently, MIS-C is diagnosed based on symptoms together with laboratory tests that look for signs of inflammation in the body.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treatment: <\/strong>Treatments currently include anti-coagulation to curb blood clotting, IV immunoglobulin and anti-inflammatory drugs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About the Lancet Study:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Lancet study<\/strong> has been conducted on a small group of children affected with PIMS-TS.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The study has found that <\/strong>most gastrointestinal, heart and neurological symptoms in children are resolved within six months of the COVID-19 infection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Moreover, the long-term damage<\/strong> to the organs is thought to be a rare occurrence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/explained\/paediatric-syndrome-linked-with-covid-19-resolved-after-six-months-small-study-7330340\/\"><strong>Indian Express<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
