For instance,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Many children are in danger of being trafficked or forced into child labor.<\/li>\n<li>Teenage girls are at risk of being pushed into child marriage.<\/li>\n<li>Many suffer exclusion, marginalisation, abuse, and even violence owing to Poverty.<\/li>\n<li>Large numbers of children are being cut off from formal education.<\/li>\n<li>Many children are orphaned due to loss of their parents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>How govt can support covid orphans?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Short term solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>First,<\/strong> orphaned children should be allowed to be in kinship care with extended family rather than putting them in institutional stay for longer periods.\n<ol>\n<li>In this regard, the <strong>Child Welfare Committee <\/strong>should consider the wishes of the child, and the ability of the family members to care for them.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Second,<\/strong> fake messages about adopting \u201c<strong>Covid orphans<\/strong>\u201d should be firmly dealt by law enforcement agencies. Foster care and adoption of children who have lost parents to Covid-19 should take place only through the legal process.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Third,<\/strong> Meal supplementation through anganwadis and schools, growth monitoring of young children. Also, counseling of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should continue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>Midterm solutions<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>One,<\/strong> need to plan for a possible <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/how-to-prevent-3rd-wave-of-covid-19\/\">third wave of Covid-19<\/a> and its Impact on Children.\n<ul>\n<li>Children with mild-to-moderate cases of Covid-19 infection should be allowed to stay at home, with careful monitoring of their condition.<\/li>\n<li>For children who need hospitalisation, a parent or guardian must be permitted to be with them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Child protection staff<\/strong> must be positioned at hospitals to help with children who are in the care of child services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two,<\/strong> Children will need support to process their grief and recover from the loss of lives. For this, <strong>G<\/strong><strong>rief and trauma counsellors<\/strong> will need to be identified and trained in districts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>Long-term solutions<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>One,<\/strong> government policy support for \u2018<strong>Covid orphan<\/strong> \u2018.
