{"id":110139,"date":"2021-06-02T18:00:59","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T12:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=110139"},"modified":"2021-06-02T18:00:59","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T12:30:59","slug":"pradhan-mantri-garib-kalyan-package-insurance-scheme-for-health-workers-fighting-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pradhan-mantri-garib-kalyan-package-insurance-scheme-for-health-workers-fighting-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package Insurance Scheme for health workers fighting Covid-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><\/h5>\n<h5><strong>What is the News?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The government of India has introduced a new system for quick clearance of claims under the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pradhan-mantri-garib-kalyan-package-insurance-scheme-for-health-workers-extended-for-six-months\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package(<\/a>PMGKP) Insurance Scheme for health workers Fighting Covid-19\u201d.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>What is the New System for Quick Clearance of Claims?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Under the New System, <\/strong>the District Collector will be certifying that the insurance claim in each case is in accordance with the guidelines of the scheme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>On the basis of this certificate <\/strong>of the Collector, the Insurance Company will approve and settle the claims within a period of 48 hours.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Further, the District Collector <\/strong>will also certify the claims even in the case of Central Government hospitals\/ AIIMS\/ Railways among others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>About Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package Insurance Scheme for health workers Fighting Covid-19:<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Launched by: <\/strong>It is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 2020.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim: <\/strong>To provide comprehensive personal accident insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakh to all healthcare providers who\n<ul>\n<li>Lost their life due to Covid-19<\/li>\n<li>Accidental death on account of COVID-19 related duty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage of the Scheme:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>All government health centres, wellness centres and hospitals of Centre as well as States has included under this scheme<\/li>\n<li><strong>Private hospital staff<\/strong> and retired\/volunteer \/local urban bodies\/contracted\/daily wageworker were also included in the scheme.<\/li>\n<li>Safai karamcharis, ward-boys, nurses, ASHA workers and other health workers were also covered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation: <\/strong>The scheme is being implemented through an Insurance policy from the New India Assurance Company(NIACL).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1723396\"><strong>PIB<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the News?
